Guys I'm so confused I don't understand how the instant track thing works. I ****ing hate the feature. I really am worried about Lauren. Are they gonna be releasing a different single for other territories 'cause... please don't. IDEK. That article ****ed me up and I didn't even read it.

They deleted the article, they probably got in trouble for leaking the feature.

Harmonizers, are you ready to "Work"? Last night, Fuse attended a listening session at Epic Records—home to Fifth Harmony, Meghan Trainor, Future and Mariah Carey, among others—and got a sneak peak at 5H's new single and music video.
"Work From Home" will be the lead single off the quintet's upcoming sophomore album. The song kicks off with a slinky, synthy beat that sees the girls cooing "come hither" invitations and singing how there's "nothing but sheets between us." That's all before moving into the repetitive, addictive chorus: "You don't gotta do work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work / Let my body do the work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work" that grows with intensity as the ladies harmonize on subsequent sections. Guaranteed: It will get stuck in your head.
Similarly to the group's breakout smash "Worth It," the track is a mix of pop and hip-hop, and also brings a male on board: This one seeing the girls teaming up with Ty Dolla $ign. Also similarly to "Worth It," member Lauren Jauregui does not get her own verse section.
Fuse also got to see the music video for "Work From Home," which feels like a slight hat tip to Ciara's "Work" video as the girl rock feminine, construction-inspired outfits while dancing amid beefcakes trying to build a house. In particular, Normani Kordei's look recalls CiCi's tank-top-and-jeans combo, even wearing similar glasses, while Ally Brooke Hernandez looks stunningly more mature. If Harmonizers were worried about Lauren's lack of solo time in the actual "Work From Home" song, they'll be happy to hear that she's essentially positioned as the main dancer in the visual, typically in the center of their formations and the main focal point of the group choreography.
"Work From Home" will be revealed on Friday, February 26, alongside pre-order for 5H's new album slated for mid-May. Stay tuned for Fuse for more insider information about the album (yes, we heard more songs!) and interviews with the group coming soon.
While you wait, check out this video interview when 5H's Ally Brooke Hernandez stopped by Fuse and talked about the group's new material:

This.
It doesn't really affect anything. Sledgehammer was an instant grat for example, it changes nothing.

When you have an album already pre-ordered in iTunes and a track is released from it, that track automatically downloads for you. In the past, those downloads were counted as sales; however, Neilsen recently stopped doing this because it led to really big album artists getting very inflated sales debuts for random album tracks even though in reality, those songs weren't that popular because not very many people were actually looking to buy the song itself.
What this means for Work From Home is that if people choose to buy the single and THEN pre-order the album, the sale will count. However, if they pre-order the album first and just let the track automatically download, that will NOT count as a track sale since the person isn't specifically buying the song itself (despite the fact that they're paying for it). So basically the update accounts just need to remind people to download the song by itself before pre-ordering the album.

I thought how it works was that all the downloads are counted up until the release week when the downloads are taken off due to people doing the "complete my album" on iTunes. So if the song sells 35k copies from people buying the song and 20k from pre-orders the song would have 55k sales for that week according to Soundscan/Billboard.
However, once release week comes and people start completing their albums; instead of counting as 15/16 seperate track sales, Billboard sees it as one album sale. When this happens each download of the song (Work From Home or any other track released pre-release) counts as a negative download. E.g. The sales of Applause.
Week 9: 100,000 (#8)
Week 10: 89,000 (#9)
Week 11: 80,000 (#7)
Week 12: 77,000 (#10)
Week 13: 4,000 (#10) [Album release week]
So, it doesn't really affect much. It helps the song if anything due to the exposure. (at least that's how i've always interpreted this rule but if any chart people want to clock feel free).

Which of the two, boo? Because I think what Shelven is saying makes more sense, and if so, it will affect the single's performance.

SpinThatShhh is right about the "Complete My Album" concept during album release week, but I don't think he's correct in saying that album pre-orders count towards the track sales.

I'm trying to find a Billboard article that explains the rules.
