Finished rewatching season 4, my ranking of the first four seasons:

1. Season 3

Almost every episode was strong, loved Cole, the Charmed Ones were still really likeable, loved the change from 'demon of the week' to a long-running arc, and it had the best finale of all seasons

2. Season 2
3. Season 1
4. Season 4

Season 1, 2 and 4 are pretty much equal tho

Season 7 was a mess. Not as bad as Season 8 but still a mess. That's the moment Charmed went totally downhill.

I agree about season 7, I'm watching it now and I actually sort of like it. There's some truly awful episodes, but Zankou, Charisma Carpenter as The Seer, and Brody are great.

I LOVE that there's no fairytale mess, and that Piper's annoying kids are barely featured

I've been rewatching the show like this:
Season 1 (skipping episode 3)
Season 2
Season 3
Season 4
Season 7 (starting with episode 5 "Styx Feet Under")

(Skipping season 5, 6, and 8, you don't miss out on anything significant)

I love it so much more, I'm even enjoying s7 now.

Give this a try the next time you rewatch the show

BTW are there any shows even slightly similar to Charmed airing now? I watched a bit of Witches of east end but I couldn't get into it and there wasn't enough magic in it to keep my attention and well its cancelled now so yeah

I didn't like the fairytales and the general silliness but it's not just that, the sisters' personalities in s7 resemble their s4 personalities, in s5 they were so different.

And I also dislike how Phoebe blaming everything on Cole , even though

-He was tricked into becoming The Source, and he only did it to save her ungrateful ass
-He wanted to give up his powers to that wizard so he could become good again but Phoebe vanquished the wizard
-She was the one that turned on her sisters, he didn't make her do that

Didn't like Cole becoming this obsessed stalker either. This whole Cole/Phoebe mess in s5 was just not needed.
