I'm really torn about this album and about Kendrick right now.
This is probably the best album of the year for me, but some things continue to not sit right with me. I mean...I respect Kendrick a whole lot, but I feel like he could co-signing colorblindness on "Complexion" (or it might just be about colorism in the black community, but it could be taken the wrong way to some), and though I can see where he's coming from with "The Blacker the Berry", his HYPOCRITE! theme that he's pushing in the song is completely colorblind too (gang violence isn't caused by the same thing that causes police killing unarmed black people - juxtaposing them or saying they're the same "murder is murder!" is so misinformed)
He comes off as self-righteous in a few points too. Its like I get it, everyone wants you to be the new Tupac, the savior of hip hop, he spoke to you in your dream, I get it I get it. But some of his message come off contrived to me. And it sucks because I know he really believes in what he's saying.
Anyway, GKMC is still superior, but I loved the direction he took with this. It sounds like an old classic but very modern at the same time.

Thank you. I understand it now, but still don't like it... It doesn't have a classic sound to it like GKMC does for example.

It'll probably become classic just because it's him. I actually really like it.
