after the breathtaking, life changing, toe curling, fall to the floor, crawl to the door performance of our generation. It should be right on top.
Well there goes the "with no promo" excuse,
No one from the a Hive expected the album to be on top, nor should any person with common sense. There is no single on pop radio right now. A performance so long after an album's release can only do so much. It's already 2x platinum. If this performance happened months ago the result would be a different story. We're ticking down to the one year anniversary already. Not saying it isn't impossible to have an album rise long after release, it just usually takes a Grammy performance and a hit song on the radio to help.
I was hoping for 14k at the most last week. And it seems it will do around that. That's not terrible in this sales climate. I mean look at these numbers. A lot of these people performed or appeared at the VMAs as well. Bey put on a hell of a show and got exactly what she needed out of it. Acclaim and a rise in sales.
lol. Then why Problem is a bigger hit WW than every Demi and Selena singles?
Plus My Everything is performing better than all their albums so far, and it's only her 2nd album.
Because it's a more appealing song than anything they have released? Are you saying Carly Rae Jepson is a bigger celebrity than Katy Perry, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, etc. just because she had one global hit?

I don't think so.
Even Break Free (it still has to peak in most of the countries) is performing better than Heart Attack and Come & Get It outside english speaking countries. I mean.
I'm just saying the chart performance of 1 or 2 songs doesn't determine popularity.

Once again, that doesn't determine popularity. Selena and Demi are still much bigger stars in general than Ariana.

Ariana has 3 global hits and good album sales. Something Carly did not.
Demi and Selena are not "bigger" than Ariana. Neither of them have a VMA or good album/single sales + the GP looks at them as jokes. Ariana surpassed them in less than a year.

They've both won VMAs and Selena has 4 multi-platinum singles.

Ariana's sales aren't terrible but they're not by any means good. The album had three singles in the top 10 simultaneously and it's the most promoted record of the year. 10-30k is a lame increase from her debut which had one minor hit, little promo, and she was more or less a nobody at the time.

I love Ariana, and she is the Queen. But this is actually really true. I'm very disappointed

ff as if Ariana has good album sales? bye felicia
Demi & Selena both have VMAs and multi platinum singles.
and despite Ariana scoring 3 Top 10 singles in one era, she can't sell 100k more than Selena and Demi in their opening weeks.
Let's keep it cute now.

It only took Ariana 1 year to achieve everything they did and more in 6+ years.
Album sales are the pits. And first week sales aren't good indicators at longevity. ie Adele only debuted with barely 300k but went on to sell 10M in the US. Another example, Gaga debuted with over 200k yet failed to sell 1M in the US.
You guys need to stop being so close minded and wait until we get actual info before you start calling anyone a "flop". The over dramatics is tiring.
Beyonce's increase is meh. Justin's increase was much bigger. That just goes to show you that having a notable hit from an album is important. DiL was a decent-sized hit, but it wasn't notable enough like "Mirrors" and "Suit & Tie." That surprise release did more than any "promotion" or any single released this era could for the album.
People need to consider streaming in the equation, too. Ariana is the biggest streaming artist at right now in addition to having the most digital power. Trying to use her album sales to bring down all her merits is extremely desperate. The thing about her album sales is that they could drastically change if she becomes a grammy darling next year... which is a huge possibility.
