Some early-2014 press buzz:
San Francisco Examiner: 10 new pop stars for 2014
Quote:
2. Iggy Azalea
Born Amethyst Amelia Kelly in Melbourne, Australia, this U.S.-schooled model created a street-smart, rhyme-spitting persona as Iggy Azalea. Her upcoming debut disc: “The New Classic.”

Idolator: Most Anticipated Albums of 2014
Quote:
Last year was packed with releases from a bunch of superstar pop acts, but 2014 already holds a lot of promise, especially from the ladies of pop — from Lady Gaga‘s second act of ARTPOP, to the much-anticipated follow-ups from indie darlings Lana Del Rey and Katy B, to the return of the divine divas Kylie Minogue and Mariah Carey. Plus, the rap scene’s preparing for a shake-up with new LPs by Nicki Minaj and rising femcee Iggy Azalea.

Popjustice: The 106 best albums that will (or might) be released in 2014
Quote:
So we were thinking about what should be on our Best Albums Of 2013 list, which we still haven’t finished, and we started wondering would would be on our Best Albums Of 2014 list. Loads of albums that haven’t been released yet, obviously. Some that haven’t even been recorded yet.
So we started making a list, and we got a bit carried away.

Gigwise: 14 big reasons to get excited about hip hop and R&B in 2014
Quote:
2013 was a great year for hip hop and R&B. The genres were among the most exciting and innovative of the year thanks to excellent new artists and a new relationship with electronic music.
Now the year is over, it's time to look to the year ahead - and it's looking pretty good. 2014 will (hopefully) be the year we see OutKast reunite, Wu-Tang clan release their first album in 7 years, maybe, POSSIBLY Iggy Azalea and Azealia Banks' debut albums. There's sure to be a roster of awesome new artists as well. Take a look at the big things in store for hip hop and R&B in 2013.
Female rap gets a big look: 2013 was a rather anticlimatic year in terms of the ladies of hip hop; Azealia Banks' much-hyped debut failed to materialise, and efforts from Iggy Azalea and Angel Haze were pushed back multiple times. Things are looking up, however, as Azalea has confirmed we'll be hearing her debut The New Classic, in March - whilst Haze's Dirty Gold has been pushed forward to December 30 of this year. It will certainly be interesting to hear if their studio premieres live up to the hype. As for Banks' Broke With Expensive Taste? It's still a mystery, but we wouldn't be surprised for the loudmouthed Harlem native to drop it unexpectedly, Beyonce-style...in March to steal Azalea's thunder, of course.

Complex: The Most Anticipated Albums of 2014

50. Iggy Azalea, The New Classic
Label: Island Def Jam
Bold album titles are nothing new in rap. From Get Rich or Die Tryin’ to Watch the Thone, artists have used album titles to make a statement before the statement. In that regard, Australia's Iggy Azalea is pulling no punches with the title to her forthcoming major label debut, The New Classic.
Since “Pu$$y” made the online rounds in 2011, there’s been excitement about the tall blonde rapper's first full-length—a buzz that has grown steadily along the way thanks to signing with T.I.’s Hustle Gang and the release of 2012's Glory EP. The New Classic offers Iggy an opportunity to finally cement a spot in the game. She has claimed that the album is finished, and that Island Def Jam has delayed its release, which is now tentatively scheduled for March. —Adam Fleischer

Fuse: 41 Most Anticipated Albums of 2014
Quote:
Who: Australian rapper/model/twerking expert Iggy Azalea.
What: Her long-delayed debut album, The New Classic.
When: March.
What We Know: The 23-year-old described her debut LP as "fairly electronic, moombahton mixed with hip hop." That description—along with singles "Work" and "Change Your Life" featuring mentor T.I.—means we're anticipating a record filled with twerkable anthems.

WebProNews: The 2014 Hottest List
Quote:
Iggy Azalea: Iggy Azalea is a little different from others on this list, simply because she’s arguably even more famous than her Los Angeles Lakers boyfriend Nick Young. And not only has this Australian native been very successful this year, 2014 is bound to be even better for her, namely because she’s received acceptance from the sometimes finicky hip-hop community, and increased her mainstream media presence. With good music, a pretty face and a loyal fan base, it seems the sky’s the limit for Ms. Azalea.

Glam: The Most-Anticipated Music of 2014
Quote:
From Justin Timberlake‘s staggering The 20/20 Experience sales and Beyoncé‘s sonic boom, to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ indie domination, 2013 delivered some monumental music moments. Still, there’s plenty to look forward to in the new year.
Adele‘s stripped-down soul, Solange‘s infectious hipster groove, and fun.’s anthemic ear candy will be added to our audial archives in 2014, while debut LPs from Iggy Azalea, Azealia Banks, and Jhene Aiko will usher in a new era of girl power. And that’s only the beginning. As we await new releases—like Jay Z and Kanye West‘s Watch the Throne 2 and Frank Ocean‘s sophomore feat—lend your ear to artists who will drop some of the most-anticipated music of the year.

The Guardian: What new album are you most looking forward to in 2014?
Quote:
Bruce Springsteen has a new album out next week, which UK readers can listen to right here. Warpaint, Mogwai and Against Me! also have new releases scheduled for later in January, while the next couple of months will see new works from Katy B, Maximo Park, Ed Sheeran, St Vincent, Metronomy and Lily Allen.
When we asked our Twitter and Facebook followers for their most anticipated albums, responses included Interpol, Iggy Azalea, SBTRKT, Pixie Lott, Damon Albarn and high hopes for new releases from U2 (looks likely to happen), The Avalanches (probably won't happen), and Blur (don't bet the farm on that one).

The Daily Telegraph: Our stars to watch in 2014

Iggy Azalea
Azalea has gone from relatively unknown singer to a superstar over a very short period of time. She's a big deal internationally but it's only now people in her home country are taking notice of this former Mullumbimby native. Expect the new year to be all about the supercool Iggy.

Yes, I can't believe that CYL actually charted here. And it's still getting airplay! Sitting right in-between Do What U Want and Wrecking Ball.

Thanks, Joćo! I was actually confused about The new song, because I saw somewhere else about a new freestyle, but I log on to ATRL to see Animal came out. I thought we had two new songs for a second there.
Loving Animal, though. It's really good!

Not people already calling her a singer. I hated when this started to happen to Nicki. They're rappers.

In December 2012 she said that she wrote a ballad- just her singing with a piano and it made her manager cry. I asked about it during one of her livestreams and I could tell that she was ignoring it, so the song is either scrapped or she's trying to keep it secret.
