I posted this in the Sparks Fly thread, but I figured more people would see it here so I'll post it here as well...
SPARKS FLY
Quote:
Apparently winning the Country Music Association's vaunted Entertainer of the Year award last week wasn't enough for Taylor Swift.
Not resting on her laurels, Swift - already named Billboard's Woman of the Year for 2011 - scores her fifth No. 1, and first in more than two years, on Billboard's Country Songs chart, as "Sparks Fly" ignites 3-1. She had last led the list with "You Belong With Me" the weeks of Aug. 22-29, 2009.
"Sparks Fly" marks Swift's first No. 1 from her album "Speak Now" after three top five hits: "Mine" (No. 2), "Back to December" (No. 3) and "Mean" (No. 2).
More Swift chart news lies ahead this week, as she's set to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 with multiple tracks from the re-issue of "Speak Now." Analysis of the entries will post on Billboard.com Wednesday (Nov. 16), with all charts updating Thursday (17).
In celebration of Swift's latest leader on Country Songs, here's a videologue of her five titles (all uptempo) to have ascended to the chart's summit.
"Our Song"- Six weeks, Dec. 22, 2007-Jan. 26, 2008
"Should've Said No"- Two weeks, Aug. 23-30, 2008
"Love Story"- Two weeks, Nov. 22-29, 2008
"You Belong With Me"- Two weeks, Aug. 22-29, 2009
"Sparks Fly"- One week (to-date), Nov. 26, 2011
"Our Song" is Taylor's longest at #1 on the country charts and You Belong With Me is Taylor's highest peak on the Hot 100.
Something is seriously wrong with her team. They just randomly took down official forums with a half-day notice. Took it down for 2 months. lol What kind of upgrade takes 2 months? A mess. Ridiculous timing as well...award-season, live cd/dvd release, her birthday etc. Something is not right here...online team probably decided to go on a nice vacation.

I saw that! Can we still access all the request and voting links?

At the opposite end of the Hot 100's top tier, Taylor Swift debuts with "If This Was a Movie" (No. 10). On Digital Songs, the song starts at No. 3 with 162,000 downloads sold. Swift also arrives at Nos. 13 and 26 on the Hot 100 with "Ours" (148,000; her next country radio single) and "Superman" (91,000), respectively.
The tracks made their digital retail debuts Nov. 8, after previously being available only on the deluxe CD version of Swift's "Speak Now" album at Target stores. Six bonus "Speak" tracks made their arrivals digitally last week, with the Hot 100-debuting trio of tracks joined by alternate versions of "Speak" songs "Mine," "Back to December" and "Haunted," the latter of which re-enters the Hot 100 at No. 98 (24,000).
"Movie" marks Swift's Hot 100-record-extending eighth title to debut in the top 10. Lil Wayne ranks second with six top 10 launches. "Movie" is Swift's 10th top 10 overall and her first since "December" (No. 6) last year.
With her Hot 100 entrances, Swift continues her run of accumulating accolades. Last Wednesday (9), she was named the CMA's Entertainer of the Year, while Monday (14), Billboard reported that "Speak" single "Sparks Fly" became her fifth No. 1 on the Country Songs chart. And, she's not done yet: the 21-year-old will receive Billboard's Woman of the Year award at the 2011 Billboard Women in Music event Dec. 2.
i wonder why billboard did not mention the other record she broke. 17 Hot100 entries from a studio album. Only artist to do so in history. Did yahoo mention it?
