Christina Aguilera 'Back to Basics' Tour in Singapore...review:
What a girl wants, what a girl gets. And Christina Aguilera looks like one girl who has it all.
Opening the show with her first single "Ain't No Other Man" off the Back to Basics album, Christina fueled the pregnancy rumors as she spotted a visible baby bump in a tight figure hugging white ensemble that flaunted (or exposed) all her curves.
Baby or no baby coming her way, Christina sang her heart out to the audience that night. Proving why she's a Grammy award winning vocalist, the singer delivered a powerhouse performance that looked effortless coming from her.
With three giant video screens behind her and a competent team of dancers and musicians, the audience lapped out every minute of what their idol dished out.
Split into three segments, with the first being a throwback to classic Hollywood glamor: Christina stunned the audience with her 'Marilyn Monroe' look before reminding everyone she was "Still Dirrty" as she belted out the song in fishnet stockings. Dedicating the song to all the ladies in the crowd, Christina had everyone eating out of her hands.
Sure, one could always argue the girl has a penchant for over indulging her lungs, but when she lowered down the histrionics as she did for "Oh Mother," the petite singer reached out to the audiences as she recounted her early childhood days that was haunted by domestic violence.
Showing those days are clearly behind her, Christina led the audience to a night of rambunctious fun and dance as she belted out crowd favorites like "Candyman" and "Dirrty."
In the circus segment of the concert, Christina took on the role of ringmistress Baby Jane. She commanded stilt walkers, clowns, girls on trapeze, and flame jugglers to much appreciation from the crowd. The audience went wild as she sat on the swing and gradually faded into the darkness as the lights dimmed.
But there was no louder applause then when the blonde bombshell ended the night with a trio of her hits: "Lady Marmalade," "Beautiful" and "Fighter."
As the confetti snowed down on everyone, it was almost disappointing to know there was no encore from her that night. But then again, the girl put up a fantastic show from start to finish, and there could be a bun in the oven. So honestly, who can blame her?
MTV Asia is the official music channel for Christina Aguilera 'Back to Basics' Tour.
