Even if she doesn’t win the coveted Album of the Year, the Grammys promises to be the biggest night of her young life. “I’m definitely going to be singing ‘Rolling in the Deep,’ ” she says. “Because that’s been the biggest hit off the record in America. But I’m going to mix up a little bit—do a bit of a Beyoncé—to make it exciting. It’s kind of my comeback, really. There are a lot of people who probably think that I’m never going to sing again. So I will come for them and kick their arses.” (Heh! Heh! Heh!) Is she nervous? “I’m nervous whenever I perform,” she says, her already big eyes growing huge. “But seeing that it will be the first time opening my mouth again onstage in front of my peers? I’m shittin’ myself.”
She was suppose to do two

(Not surprisingly, when I ask her if there is an older singer whose career she admires, she mentions Sade. “I think she’s phenomenal. It’s all about the music with her. I have no idea who she really is, and I love it.”)
I'm in love, Adele loves Sade too..

Most successful pop stars these days, all but forced by their labels to produce albums at a frenzied pace, don’t have that luxury. But because Adele signed with the British indie label XL, which licenses her music to Sony, she is under no such obligation. In other words, she has the clout to do however she pleases, even if that means, as she says, “taking four or five years” to put out another record. “I’m in it for the long run,” she says. “I don’t want to be disposable. You’re only as good as your next record. I’m not scared of losing this. I won’t come out with new music until it’s better than 21. I’m not expecting to sell as many records, but I don’t want to release ****. Also, I have nothing to write about! I’d be lying. And that would go against everything I’ve ended up building for myself. So, yeah, I will need at least three years to write a record.”
I said that she was supposed to do two. I read a quote from the Grammy producer. I think it was the whole Whitney death that may have caused some of the stuff to change a bit.
And then I just kept running even though they weren’t chasing me anymore. I was running from something. And I didn’t know what. I was just chasing a pavement. And I was like, Ka-ching! I will get my record-deal money now! And then with ‘Rolling in the Deep,’ there’s a gang phrase in the U.K., roll deep, that basically means having someone have your back so you are never on your own if you come into trouble. It’s a real gangster thing, but I think it’s really beautiful. So I just turned it into ‘Rolling in the Deep.’ ”
Black "gangsters' also use that term rolling deep, so does that mean RITD was an ode to all ni***s?

(Is it a coincidence that Beyoncé named her brand-new baby girl Blue? And aren’t we glad that Penny changed her mind at the last minute and made Blue Adele’s middle and not first name?)

Let's post this quote every time someone says she will become the next Alanis or Norah.
as you see there, in only 2 days we got almost 730 pounds. This will be a success. You can donate anytime until 5th May, many times if you want, and every penny counts.
We spoke directly with drop4drop, and they are loving this: "You guys are brilliant". We kinda wanted to make this a secret so Adele wouldnt find out before her birthday, but we prefer making this a huge promotion and lots of people donating, rather than a small donation and Adele not finding out.

Everyone sure is happy for Adele and her album "21"!
Since the album has sold so well, I was wondering what chance its might have to reach Diamond certification (10 million units) from the RIAA. I haven't heard of any recent albums managing the milestone, so I wanted to know if you think "21" could.
In fact, what were some of the last albums to be certified Diamond?
Thanks,

>>> Hi Cornell,
With sales of 7,353,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan, "21" could be in line to reach 10 million in sales. "Rumour Has It" is just beginning its run as the album's fourth single and Adele's pop culture prominence should keep the album selling strongly. After "21" became the longest-leading album by a woman in the Billboard 200's 56-year history, an eventual Diamond certification doesn't seem unattainable, does it?
Four albums earned the honor last year from the RIAA: Elvis Presley's 1970 holiday set "Elvis' Christmas Album"; 2Pac's "Greatest Hits" (1998); and, Eminem's "The Marshall Mathers LP" (2000) and "The Eminem Show" (2002).
Also impressively, Adele's first album "19" (which has sold 1,947,000, according to SoundScan), shoots 9-4 on the current Billboard 200, marking the album's first appearance in the top five in its 122nd week.
The rise of "21," thus, obliterates the mark for the longest climb to the top five since the Billboard 200 adopted SoundScan data in 1991. Here is a revised look at the albums to take the most scenic routes to the top five in that span:
Weeks to Top Five, Title, Artist, Year Reached Top Five
122 weeks, "19," Adele, 2012
64 weeks, "Cocky," Kid Rock, 2003
63 weeks, "Taylor Swift," Taylor Swift, 2008
62 weeks, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?," soundtrack, 2002
62 weeks, "[Hybrid Theory]," Linkin Park, 2002
