It's all confidence. And once it works out once, it's much easier every time after that.
My first pseudo-relationship came about very organically -- it just kind of developed from a friendship. I think that helped make it a lot easier since I didn't have to deal with the nerves of approaching someone I had a crush on but had never been friends with.
Just play it cool. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, she wasn't that great anyway. Find closure and move on.
Be open to it happening. That's important too. If you tell everyone you don't want a girlfriend, girls won't go for you. Don't seem desperate, but be receptive.
Just believe in yourself and move at a pace you're comfortable with, etc etc.
She's still very pretty regardless and her beauty shines through.
