I'd been anticipating this album since Loreen slayed the Eurovision Song Contest with the amazing Euphoria, but it took forever to be released.
It took me quite a few spins to get into, but once I did I fell in love. Loreen is a fantastic songwriter and has a brilliant voice which she manipulates and uses emotively expertly.
Heal is pretty much the perfect length album - listening to it feels not too long and not too short at all. While there are two or three filler songs, they're executed so perfectly and impressively that they don't seem like filler at all.
Congrats Loreen, I hope you achieve more success in your career because you really deserve it. Looking forward to the next album.
Okay so this was pretty predictable if you know me or have seen me post around.
While this is (obviously) one of the best albums of the year, the main reason it makes it to #1 is because I've adored Ellie since her first single was released and I'd been thirsting for her sophomore for around 2 years.
I never once doubted that she would fail to deliver - because her debut was so damn impressive. Halcyon takes it to the roots though; emotionally AND lyrically. She talks about the body, death, love, the future and the past. She REALLY stepped up her game for Halcyon and I couldn't be prouder of the progress she's made.
