No they didn't (CERTAINLY not Madonna). Sonically, they did, but Bey was the one who created that VOCAL style. None of them could mix power and agility the way she did.

They were 90s (the relevant ones anyway). R&B went through a change in the early 2000s courtesy of songs like Say My Name, Jumpin' Jumpin', Bootylicious. Songs with distinctly different types of singing compared to the 90s R&B.
