Because the song is already on iTunes.

Artists never put a single on iTunes if the exact same song is already on the album. It will just rise up the iTunes charts on the album version.

But they could release the physical fade-out version on iTunes as the single one, that way people would be able to buy whichever they like.

That would make no sense and would have no marketing benefit if the song had two different versions on iTunes.

It needs to have ONE version charting rather than two. (I.E. one version at #65 and the other at #75, as opposed to the song at #35)
