Which reiterates my original point that
Loud's diversity was purposeful in extending Rihanna's success into a variety of genres. While "Man Down" was a hit on urban radio, "California King Bed" exposed Rihanna to the country and AC audience, which was something she had never really done before.
Despite the execution of the single choices being rather flawed at the time, no one can really deny they weren't well thought out beforehand. They achieved their original purpose, despite the dual release inhibiting both song's overall success. The potential was there.
