Boy I did not know 1989 boosted the egos of you guys this much. Obviously Taylor is a bigger force and sells more albums, but sales =/= impact. Speak Now is her least relevant album (aside from debut) despite outselling most of the people I listed. But they still have the capacity to be more culturally relevant than Taylor; all I'm saying is I'd prefer Taylor to have an entire year of dominance to herself, just like she did for Q4 2014 - Q3 2015.
Do you REALLY think Speak Now has more impact than LOUD? Teenage Dream? Born This Way? Doo Wops? 21? HONESTLY?
Cultural relevance contributed to the musical success she had with 1989. If she wouldn't have been the only major artist with music out, 1989 wouldn't have been as big as it was. All I'm saying is it would be nice to have something similar happen again
"Culturally relevant" and yet they can't even sell a quarter of Her least successful alber.
All of the main pop stars have albums that have outsold Speak Now (excluding Miley and Ariana if you count them) ???
Taylor is not immune to flopping. It'd be great for her to continue to have the success she deserves for putting out the quality music she does. That's all I have to say on this topic anymore, so goodnight guys.

...are you trying to say Speak Now flopped? A 6 million WW selling album...a flop.
Taylor would mop the floor w/ anyone except Adele. Her power in the USA eclipses all of her peers. In that respect I'm not worried about her getting washed away w/ all the releases in 2016 but rather that the break between 1989 and T6 will be too short. It's her biggest era ever and people will need time to miss her. I still feel like 2016 is too soon for the amount of NONSTOP exposure she had during the end of 2014 and most of 2015.
If Adele's return has taught us anything it's that Taylor will have a LOT of hype surrounding her next release, whether that comes this year or next. So she should just take a lengthy break, enjoy her life, and come back in 2017.

But it did,
It's her best album, but her lowest/second lowest selling. Which is a flop, by her standards. She had no hit singles, nothing to remember the era from, and no impact. She had good album sales and a great tour gross. Congrats. But it was still a flop era compared to Fearless, Red, and 1989.
Ultimately I trust her judgement. She's shown a remarkable understanding of her image and exposure. If she's adamant about releasing this year, then cool. I'll get behind that.
I don't really care about how much she sells but She does and 2017 would be a smarter choice. I do, however, care about the fact that she is still everywhere and I'm not even close to thirsting over TS6 yet
All I want is her to lock Artist of this decade title
I mean, if both her and Adele will only release 1 album in this period left of this decade, Adele will claim it
