It's on after Roddick's match, so next basically. I'm rooting for Zheng, but I expect Azarenka in two...so and so sets

Azarenka really is the least talked about #1 in recent times. Even Woz was more publicized (mostly because of her inability to win a slam, but still ).

End of Round 2 Predictions
The new scores are in, and the second round predictions are worth double. Only 3 places will be revealed, and since GU forgot to send in ha predictions and because of other poor predictors (you know who you are ) we have 3 clear frontrunners, although they are all close.
No third place in this case...
2T.
Celestial with 83 points, slides down a notch because of top tier predictions from the first place holder
2T.
jj99 with 83 points, moves up a notch from good predictions this round
And last but not least...
1.
SpeacialK with 87 points .

Is it possible for Zheng to come back from a 6-0 3-0 deficit? . I mean I've seen things like that happen. I remember watching the Australian Open in 2008 when Sharapova won it and in a SF match of Ivanovic against Hantuchova she came back from a 6-0 2-0 deficit to win it in 3

Vika always beats up the scrubs, this is nothing knew. Her draw is a dream, Stosur and Sharapova will take their lashings.

This is true. I cannot wait until she draws either one of them...I need the easiest final ever for Serena (but then again the easier the opponent, the worse Serena plays ).

True. Venus has a pretty safe persona, the ultimate stateswoman (and let's be real, not as accomplished. We all know that in sports the better you are, the more you're hated). They're still grouped together often enough, though.

That's sort of ridiculous.
Serena drew public ire because she had a fairly ****ty personality in her youth. She reacted against the harsh media coverage and it got worse. Thankfully, she's grown up, calmed down and proved herself enough times to become a fairly beloved media personality and American athlete.

I don't think so, it happens to pretty much everyone not named Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods (pre-side hos ). Look at someone like Tom Brady. Fairly gracious in interviews, relatively clean image, and yet he's one of the most hated players in the NFL. Immature as Serena can be, I'm not sure how much people would care if she wasn't such a legend.
But thankfully she has mellowed out a bit.

I think it's a bit different when someone is associated with a team. As far as I can tell, Tom Brady-bashing is essentially Patriots-bashing, and the rest of the country seems to have no problems with him.
You might be right. However, Serena (and Venus) were both criticized long before achieving legend status. I don't know whether Richard, racism or whatever else is to blame for the instantaneous vile spewed about the Williams, but Venus seems to have handled it better and matured sooner. While Serena had a lot of incidents in the early part of her career that prolonged her rocky relationship with the media and public, it seems like she's grown into an elder stateswoman of tennis these days.

I remember seeing a poll about the most hated NFL players before the Super Bowl last year, and Brady was right up there with Vick and Roethlisberger. Perhaps I should just dismiss that as unreliable sampling, because that seemed a bit odd even to me.
Oh, for sure. I'm not saying the ire towards Serena was only because of how good she was, just that it grew stronger because of how good she was. But it seems like she's become a good mentor to the new generation of players, and nobody has really stepped up to assume her throne, so she's getting more appreciation these days.

Lol what I don't recall this aspect of Serena's personality in her youth. If anything she's become less mature and gotten less calm with age.

Really? I'm remembering a lot more attitude, frustration and dismissive anger in early interviews and press conferences. But maybe I'm wrong.

I dunno I agree with you. I remember before she'd be so loud mouth and say things like "I could beat anyone on the men's tour outside the top 200" and got her ass kicked . She seems more humble these days (besides the US Open outbursts) so I would agree with you
