You're right, but I think Trump knows he can't debate her on issues so he goes on the attack. He's done that with his Republican rivals and even Bernie at times.
The average person knows she was First Lady, Senator, and Secretary and when those heavily watched debates occur he probably won't be able to pin point anything to diminish her accomplishments. She'll then have the power to explain her record and attack his lack thereof like you just said.
