1989 and SIO were both put on iTunes on August 18th yeah... but also kworb estimated SIO sales at 542k and Billboard said it sold 544k. So there was no complete my album, insta grat, whatever effect.

Couple weeks later he predicted Out Of The Woods at 331k and Billboard said it sold 195k. So there clearly was a change between those 2 songs, with insta grats not being counted anymore.

iTunes Reporting Methodology Change Impacting Nielsen SoundScan U.S. & Canada

Effective Friday, October 10th, iTunes sales reported to Nielsen SoundScan will no longer include instant gratification tracks delivered prior to the release of an album when the consumer purchases the entire album. The purchase of the album, as an individual transaction, will be counted when the complete project has been delivered upon album release. Individual tracks purchases will still be counted at the time of purchase and returned at the time the consumer decides to “Complete My Album”.

Yess this is the article. No one believed it until the day OOTW sales were posted by Billboard. It was kind of Billboard fault for not reporting that change of rule though. They still haven't made an article about this though

Oh you were asking about Billboard Year end? Taylor is at like 3,2 million + whatever she did in TEA.

None of Adele's weeks will count on BB year end, I'm pretty sure.

If we are talking Billboard year 1989 is at 2.858.000

If we are talking calendar year it's 1.693.000

Calendar year #2 so far is Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late with 1.075.000 + what he sold this week. Don't know what's #2 in the Billboard year so far.

I wonder what happens when you cancel a pre-order. Are the instant grats you already "bought" reported as single sales?

What if the album's pre-ordered a week after the single sale? It already counted for HDS, but it still needs to be subtracted. The pre-order could still be cancelled. So I assume they don't report any CMA until the album is released.

I knew I was forgetting a few artists. So she'll be somewhere inside the Top 5 with sales but not with SPS (again, assuming she sells north of 800K). Not bad for one week.

Exactly! I think CMA before album release doesn't inflate HDS.
