^ There are some people here who use free programs to make avatars. I think LilMissXSmiley32 uses an online program and z|| Mr. Loko ||z uses Microsoft Gif animator. I don't know much about those programs though, so you'll have to ask them.
There is also Animation Shop Pro, which is completely free. The only downfall to all of these programs is you can't do anything beyond the traditional boxes and pixel font styles.

@Matty & oshbaby - lol Thanks. I think what I want to do is finish off the last two lessons for Photoshop, then move to some tutorials on flash animating in a whole new guide. I use both programs to make avatars. In Photoshop I design things like the the buildings, billboards, sky, DK cutout, rain and logo. Then in Flash I animate everything.
