It's easy to forget that this referendum was won thanks to Labour voters in some of their heartlands being desperate for change. If even supporters of Labour are racist now, then our country surely needs saving.

But being concerned about immigration doesn't mean you hate immigrants, just that you want a controlled policy. Anything further than that goes well beyond what the Leave campaign was standing for.
We all know here that if successive Labour and Conservative governments hadn't consistently abandoned the Midlands and the north of England the overall concern about immigration wouldn't be anywhere near as much. It's just that working class people have seen their living standards hit lows at the same time as increased mass immigration from Europe. People just put two and two together to make five, and immigrants have been a useful scapegoat for governments for quite some time.
