Sorry, I was typing that quick without spell checking.
If an instant grant track is released the same week as the album, I thought the sales and pre-orders all lumped together. But I guess that was based off of 1989. So I take that back, we don't really know and One Direction's single isn't a good example tbh.
Why not?
That 1D single was in the exact same situation as Hello is in now.
A song in its first week and an album up for pre-orders.
Complete my album and insta grats are different though. Adele Hello is an insta grat and going by Billboard rules, only its individual sales will count towards Hot 100 points
I'm aware that the sales won't count if people just pre-ordered 25 right away without downloading Hello individually first. I'm talking about people who downloaded Hello by itself, and THEN pre-ordered 25 afterwards. Kworb said that those sales won't count for the Hot 100 either, but I think they will, since buying the song first and the album second IS an example of Complete My Album.

Thats because there is no way for Billboard to know if a song was bought first and then the album was pre-ordered i guess. Itunes will only report sales to Billboard

Is there possibility to use CMA option when album is avaliable to pre-order? I think it's more probably than someone preorder 25 first and then get Hello as a instant grat.

I mean, it would be a bit silly if there was a big difference on a chart based on how many people clicked just "order album," or
"buy song" and a second later "order album."
It will work as an Insta grat. Those sales won't count for HDS and for Hot 100
So Hello numbers for sure are inflated But if CMA effect works for songs from albums before release it gonna be biggest mess ever. Nielsen/BB, don't do it...

Its similar to CMA though. You pay for the whole album. I think they haven't included it because you can cancel your pre-order which isn't possible with CMA
