I've been saying forever that her team are the reason why the PRISM era "underperformed", not the material or even the single choices. Her old TD team wouldn't have LET Uncle not reach Top 10, or released two of the album's best tracks as promo singles.

Her old team picked the best singles from TD, let CTD and NLTM (obviously weren't going to see chart success) show different sides of Katy and E.T. too with the urban influence, and remixed it into a smash.

Meanwhile the PRISM team make DH and WOA promo, with Uncle and Birthday set to be released.

But was TD's team different? Did Katy replace her old team? When and how? I don't remember reading It somewhere.

Even if Bradford and Steve were there from day one (Google tells me Steve is the head of Direct Management rather than specifically being Katys manager) EMA, which owned Capitol, shut down and was bought by Universal between albums so there's been a pretty massive shake up behind the scenes. The head of Colombia took over as head of Capitol at the end of 2012.

This quote from Wikipedia says it all.

We were discussing her team in general rather than focusing on one branch of it in particular.


Her management don't even have all that much to do with single choices, they deal with how she'll promote rather than what she'll be promoting. Her promotion was pretty much on par with what she was doing with Teenage Dream tbh. I dunno if she got more freedom or less freedom or whatever, but her A&R team were definitely the weak link with Prism.

and 5 #1's only happened twice in history

anyone who thought Prism would have 5 #1's was just delusional

also she focused on her tour way too much but nobody can blame her *cough*200M*cough*

that's why she didn't promote as much

Birthday video was a mistake.
Not releasing LL/WOA was a mistake.

Nobody is expecting her to have 5 #1s but between Roar, Dark Horse, Legendary Lovers, Walking On Air, Birthday (with a better video) and This Is How We Do (in whatever order) she'd have all Top 10s.
