Zedd stops by Z100 New York

Zedd stopped by the Z100 studios today to discuss his latest single, his new album, and recent events. The "Clarity" producer arrived early, eager to discuss his side of what is now being called the Applegate scandal. The interview, which aired on the morning show, can be found below.
Elvis Duran: Hello Zedd, welcome to the Z100 studios!
Zedd: Happy to be here!
Duran: Now, I know everyone is anxiously waiting for a statement from you on the Applegate scandal, but let's talk about your new single first. It's called "Temple," right?
Zedd: Yep, I made it with Lady Gaga. She's... interesting to work with.
[Both chuckle.]
Duran: Are you saying she's difficult?
Zedd: [Chuckles.] No. She's... very particular with what direction she wants her music going in. I respect that, and I am proud of every song of hers I produced.
Duran: Every time I've met with her, she always seems so nice.
Zedd: I have to agree.
Duran: So, the music video should be out soon, right?
Zedd: Yep, they're just putting the finishing touches on the video. It should be out very soon.
Duran: What's it going to be like?
Zedd: Hindu-inspired temple. That's pretty much all I can say, but if you want an idea of what it will look like, watch our Jimmy Kimmel performance.
Duran: Alright, so your new album, Serenity, is coming out on Tuesday, right?
Zedd: Correct. There isn't a track listing out yet, but I'll be sure to get it out by the end of the weekend. The album is now available for preorder now, though, and all digital copies of "Slay" and "Temple" have been rolled into the album. Well, the ones we can do that with...
Duran: Ah, Applegate!
Zedd: Might as well get it out of the way. [Chuckles.]
Duran: So, what happened?
Zedd: Basically, my team discovered that my songs were deleted from the iTunes store. Thinking it was a glitch, they instantly started investigating to bring everything back up. They then found out that it was not a glitch; Apple had intentionally removed all my songs. We didn't actually know the true reason, but it was right after I announced my partnerships with Sennheiser and Samsung, so we instantly connected the two. Apple, after Twitter exploded with outrage, explained that my songs were removed due to me breaking my promotion contract with them and supporting other companies that rival Apple.
Duran: But that's not how it happened, right?
Zedd: Yeah. My contract with them had just recently ended, and I decided I did not want to work with them anymore. I joined Sennheiser and Samsung to promote their products and create a special phone for my fans. They somehow twisted this into me breaking my contract.
Duran: Do you think Apple is trying to control you?
Zedd: Absolutely. They're trying to control the entire music industry. Hell, they're trying to control the entire entertainment industry! This is how it's starting: artists get their songs removed when they don't do what Apple wants. We should put an end to this before it's too late. I advise everyone to quit using iTunes and start using Amazon or Google Play. Maybe even use Spotify or YouTube to listen to my songs. If they do not stop, then everyone should stop buying Apple products altogether. Desktop and tablet Windows as well as Android and Windows Phone are great alternatives to Apple's products; I honestly prefer them much more. Even Linux could be used over OSX.
Duran: Wow, you kinda went on a rant there.
Zedd: Sorry, it just irritates me so much.
Duran: If I was in your situation, I would feel the same way.
Zedd: Alright, I need to go. I have... other plans.
Duran: Thanks for stopping by.
Zedd: My pleasure!
Duran: That was Zedd everyone, and here is his latest single, "Temple!"
After the interview and spin of "Temple," the song rose up the Amazon and Google Play charts. Both services are reporting a slight but significant increase in purchases.
"Temple" is the second single from Zedd's sophomore album Serenity.
Buy it now on Amazon and Google Play. Also stream it on YouTube and Spotify!
