That song is actually much deeper than people give it credit for. The whole premise of the song is that she's been in so many bad relationships before that she's guarded and already expecting the worst out of this new relationship. So instead of waiting for him to break her heart, she goes and breaks his heart before he can and she doesn't feel guilty about it. She feels good because she didn't give him the opportunity to break her heart and thus didn't give him the opportunity to make her feel bad. Someone already broke her heart and took all her emotions which is why she's so numb, she isn't asking for forgiveness. It's actually a really sad song.
