Yeah, the show was a total hot mess, but what else could we expect? So much of television has come to be about shock and impact over substance, and if that was the goal, then the show succeeded on that level. It's sad what has become of what was originally supposed to be a celebration of music, artistry, and the music video, but the decay of such things is nothing new, especially for MTV. The industry desperately needs a facelift, as does pop culture in general, but for tonight, I was thoroughly entertained by the ridiculousness.
