WHAT IS ON THE VERGE ARTIST? This is where we give you a look at 11 artists this year who we think you want to know more about.
KEVIN LYTTLE
This Caribbean crooner dips it low with his infectious top 10 hit "Turn Me On". The song features Spragga. At a young age, he wants to take the music biz by storm. He's already been proclaimed as the future of dance hall music and jamaican fashion. His video features a red background.
NINA SKY
A few people labeled them as the dance-hall answer to 3LW. Um, ok. Nicole and Natalie Albino make up this dynamic duo, who's also tearing up the top 10 with their infectious "Move Ya Body" track featuring Jabba. Apparently, their next single features 2002 IDRL veteran Angie Martinez, which is "Time To Go".
SARAH HUDSON
First was Sarah Ferguson, then Sarah McClachlan, then Sarah Connor. Now comes Sarah Hudson, who along with Jennifer Marks was an IDRL On The Verge a few months back. Sarah's seal of approval is still there, and her new song "Ghandi" could be making some serious power for #1 in the weeks to come.
GREG RAPOSO
One of the members from Dreamstreet. He has been a favorite to the 13-16 year old girls out there. He first made it on the countdown with It Happens Everytime in 2001. Nearly 3 years later, he goes on his own with Take Me Back Home, from his upcoming cd. Look for it soon.
ANGEL FAITH
If you've never heard of No Secrets, or if you don't remember them...now's a good time to get you up to date. Angel has been hard at work on her solo project, and this ex-No Secrets star has been tearing up the MWC's top 10 for 7 weeks now. Her song "Just The Way I Am" has been an IDRL staple since its debut towards the end of April-early May...and the video for the song is coming later this summer. Look for her cd "Believe In Angels...Believe In Me" on Midas Records, out August 10th.
JOANNA LEVERSQUE
Jojo is the youngest artist out right now...at only 13. Her young age isn't gonna turn her fans away from her powerful voice. Said to be in a family connection with the late Aaliyah Haughton(who some people say was actually in her 50s). JoJo's first single "Leave" is the #1 pop song right now, and is tearing up the top 20 on the hot 100. Her self-titled cd is out now, so go cop it.
LLOYD
His name is not Lloyd Banks, but this Lloyd is a member of The Inc., home to former On The Verger, Ashanti who was OTV in late 2001. His first single "Southside" features Ashanti and her vocal power. Nobody knows how powerful this guy could be, but he's a staple for now. His cd is coming soon.
RYAN CABRERA
Singer Ashlee Simpson has ties to this guy. At only 21, Ryan Cabrera is the hottest male songwriter out right now. His cd "Take It All Away" featuring "On The Way Down" will be coming out this summer. If you want a piece of his music sooner than you think, he is also slated to make an appearance on IDRL this summer.
HAYLIE DUFF
She's Hilary's older sister, and has some band experience. Haylie Duff teams up with her lil' sis on "Our Lips Are Sealed", for A Cinderella Story sdtk out now. Haylie could be the next big thing....well, maybe not. Still, her songs are good enough to make you wanna get in a groove. No word on her cd coming out soon. We'll keep you posted.
TIFFANY VILLAREAL
She's what Teedra Moses is, an indie r&b star. Tiffany first appeared in 1999 when she was co-hosting my countdown. She was also the co-producer of IDRL from 2000-2003. Now it's 2004 and she wants to get on the countdown with her double sided song "Be Yourself" / "Holla At Me". The future looks bright for this girl, because even if she fades in the music biz, she still has her day job of being co-producer of IDRL.
MIS-TEEQ
What would On The Verge be without Mis-Teeq, the hottest group out now(no, it's not D12 so be quiet!). Mis-Teeq is the best UK act this side of Sugababes and Girls Aloud. Unlike those 2 groups, Mis-Teeq brings r&b flavor with the infectious song "Scandalous" from their self-titled cd, hitting stores in July. Alesha, Sabrina and Su-Elise make up Mis-Teeq.
