Alright long time ATRL and/or Kworb readers, is Adele's rise at airplay unprecedented, since 2000 or so? When Survivor hit #1 in 5 weeks on HRS, impression totals at the top were lower than they are now. That's the same case for All For You, and Born This Way slowed down significantly after debuting at #6, needing 6 weeks to hit #1.
Not even Swift's songs were gaining 7 million in audience a day this far into their trip to the top. There are still four more days until the AI/HRS for Monday shows what will be counted toward the Hot 100. When I'll Be There and Erotica debuted so high, the HRS only counted Top 40, Rhythmic, AC, Hot AC, and Alternative.
Adele's probably going to be above 170 million, and that will probably put her at #2. But Hello has accelerated in the last two days too. How quickly AC switches to Christmas may be the deciding factor here, and that could happen this weekend. Even then, it's hard to imagine AC abandoning a song that's one of the fastest non-Christmas season climbers in the format's history.
Also remember, Billboard had Hello at #9 on HRS that Monday when she debuted at #1 on the H 100, while AI (Mediabase and Kworb) had Adele at #11. So if it's close, Adele could top BB's HRS even if she only gets to #2 on AI by Monday.
