Fergie is the only one who is taking advantage of her singles success. Sean Kingston is such a joke. LOVES IT.

*I edited out Rihanna because I'm happy she's doing well*
I agree with Sean Kingston. He is nothing but a joke. I laugh at people who try to sing along to his song

The July gold and platinum certifications from the RIAA are out, so it's time to see how close they come to the actual retail/internet sales tabulated by Nielsen SoundScan. This month's contestants start with a double-platinum (2 million) award for Fergie's tastey but orthographically nightmarish The Dutchess album, which has sold 2.49 million as of this week's figures. No problem there; that triple-platinum certification is certainly within reach.
Three current albums his platinum (1 million). Amy Winehouse's Back to Black has sold 1.06 million, so the timing couldn't be better. Michael Buble's Call Me Irresponsible has sold 866,000, and is still selling slightly more than 20,000 a week, so it shouldn't be more than six-seven weeks away from hitting a million. It'll make it. R. Kelly's Double Up (which is not a double CD) has sold 820,000, so that's a little more optimistic as certifications go. It sold 12,000 last week, so if it maintains that pace, it will take until the end of the year to hit a million (unless there's a holiday-season boost).
Gold awards analyzed in what follows.
Of the five reasonably current albums that hit gold, the White Stripes' Icky Thump has sold the most: 538,000, well over the 500,000 mark.
Every Second Counts by Plain White T's has sold 446,000, 23,000 last week -- so give it three weeks and it will be there.
Hank Williams Jr.'s That's How They Do It in Dixie: The Essential Collection is no longer on the chart, but has sold 437,000. I'd bet on it reaching 500,000 before the end of the year.
Fabolous' From Nothin' to Somethin' dropped to 14,000 sales last week for a total of 412,000. Still, with the massive single hit Make Me Better powering sales, it should hit 500,000 in a couple of months or so.
The most doubtful of the new gold albums is Hilary Duff's Dignity. It's off the chart, meaning its weekly sales have to be below 4,000 (that's the rounded-off figure that No. 200 on the chart sold), and there's no compelling reason at present for its sales level to change. And its total is just 344,000. Doing the math, if it averaged 3,500 copies or so, it would take almost a year to hit 500,000. Not sure that will happen. Some degree of starry-eyed optimism going on here.

Some degree of starry-eyed optimism going on here.

if she (hilary) is real and loves making music, sales doesn´t matter, from what i´ve heard, this was her first really personal record, and the music is at least alot better than before....it´s up to her integrity, the big money are from shallow things like lizzie mcguire and clothing lines anyway...
