Celeb News: Taylor donates 250k to Kesha

Y'all are the reason genuine social activism is going down the shitter if y'all seriously think hashtag tweets and online fan petitions are the biggest weapons one can yield. Who could Taylor possibly reach with a tweet that hasn't already heard about this? Now you have more people hearing about it and Kesha receives monetary help.

Donating money is not typically in itself "raising awareness." Usually when people donate money for awareness, it's to awareness campaigns who'll later use the money to advertise and educate on the issue. Yes, Taylor's donation is a very nice gesture and it will garner attention, but I disagree that some impassioned words on the topic wouldn't have the same or greater of an effect, especially considering this is from the same person who (supposedly) managed to sway the biggest corporation on Earth into changing a major policy regarding how they compensate their artists, all with a Tumblr post. A similar post could still be on its way and I hope it is, but from the headlines I've seen so far, the story's been diverted from one about Kesha's bind with Sony to one about Taylor's altruism and Kesha's impoverishedness.
Throwing money at the problem just seems like such an awfully facile and 1%-y solution to Kesha's issues, especially when Kesha herself is hardly living in squalor.

Nah, you're just embarrassing yourself and making it about your bitterness agenda about Taylor as usual.
Grow up for once.

People spewing the usual drivel yet again. As if you know what kind of financial situation Kesha is in.

Is this a joke? I'm speechless.
Ke$ha didn't ask for money but to be freed and be able to do her passion. How is this going to help her? except greasing Kesha's pocket, it's pretty stupid
I hope we'll have proof that she invest all of that money in lawers or music because

You haters never get satisfied, dont you?
She's wrong when she kept quiet and she's wrong when she helps Kesha
What's wrong with your brains? If you think you all can help Kesha better than Taylor, then do something instead judging ppl who has helped Kesha

I just really don't understand how donating a quarter of a million dollars to a woman going through a legal battle is a bad thing.
Who the **** cares if Kesha was a millionaire or a billionaire or a trillionaire. The fact that Taylor cared enough to reach out to her, offer her help: not only emotionally but PHYSICALLY, with TANGIBLE, monetary support. Kesha isn't a charity case, but she sure as hell doesn't have a source of income right now.
And the people saying a tweet would get more coverage/be bigger + better ... Are you serious? A 140 character statement that would be forgotten in two days? Anyone can hop on Twitter and say #FreeKesha; Taylor is the first to reach out to her and offer a helping hand. But some of you are so vile and disgusting that you try to turn this into a bad thing. At the end of the day, what matters is that Kesha knows she has a support system to fall back on. This is the biggest show of support she has gotten (aside from her fans protesting/rallying for her cause for years now).
You don't have to like Taylor, her personality, or her music. But what she did for Kesha was noble, brave, genuine, and kind. If you're so anti-Swift that you turn this into something to complain about, it says more about you than you will ever know. Because nothing, and I genuinely mean nothing would please some of you. You will always find a way to paint someone in a bad light, even when it comes to a real life, heartbreaking issue such as this one.

Let's face it that's like $5 to her. She can afford to throw away that kind of money for a PR stunt. It's clever, she gets to seem sympathetic but still maintain her loyalty to Luke.
She's a piece of work but she plays the game better than anyone else, for that I give her credit.

if only people were so passionate and advocate about the faceless ones that are neither seen, nor heard, nor noticed, nor popular by any means like they are with Kesha and her issue. It makes me truly mad to think one would 'donate' a quarter million dollars to a single individual when one could potentially do so so much with that much in many other places.
Sickening world we live in proven once again.

HOW is donating 250k to a victim of rape and going through all of this a bad thing? Taylor atleast DID something about the situation, unlike some other people.

and why the **** would u invest this amount on one human being when u could potentially help thousands of others with the same amount somewhere else?
Ur the same people justifying why football players or soccer players earn million and millions of dollars for doing what they do, as if their sport is of any more importance than science, education or so..

No Im certainly not. Just because ATRL is turning sth like this into a popularity contest and stan-fangirl type of thing, it doesn't mean I congratulate Taylor on doing this. I don't. At all.
Edit: If I had the money, I would do that, yes. I'm a student and I try to help the best way I can.

The woman earns 80 million a year, she can afford to do that, PLUS, she didn't show off since she didn't do it publicly, it was KESHA'S MOM who posted it.

if Taylor wanted this to be between the two, she would've explicitely stated that to her mom. Let's not act like the head of TaylorNation can't do that.
