Style is nice. IRLY is my fave from this set! I love High By The Beach too! Better than the singles from Ultraviolence imo

It's just so weird and so bizarre. But when you get into it, it is just life-giving. It's one of the best running songs for me, during that sample it just gives me so much life.
|
I guess that how the song works for everyone. But yeah, the MV was a mess. They ran out of budget, I guess.
Why is Style not in the top 20?

this could be one of my fav sets
Weeknd x2 I never expected The Hills to blow up either, especially because it's a real pain to listen to on the radio in countries where censorship exists. But I'm happy he made it
High By The Beach is perfection, I could listen to it on repeat for hours.
What Kind of Man was so weird at first, I couldn't get into it at first because the two different parts confused me and it was like two songs put together that didn't fit at all. But then something clicked and I finally got it and it is a brilliant track. How it starts out so quiet and mysterious, with her almost whispering the lyrics, and then it gets so intense and loud and explosive. Amazing.
Firestone, Want To Want Me, I Really Like You and Uma Thurman bop too.

CFMF, WTWM I agree that the latter is deceptively catchy!
Firestone is nice, and Style is just a gorgeous modern pop song.

I really love that video

Objectively speaking, it's not a bad video, it's got lots of stunning visuals. But it totally didn't serve the song well and was lacking in something especially after SIO and BS. The 2nd verse part was so unnecessarily slow.

Yay
There are radios that don't censor?
Yeah! I thought the song would follow Ceremonials considering the first part, but then that rock part confused me. But it's all good now.

Do What U Want: 19 ❤️ -1
I think Style has the most positive votes so far.

believe - mumford & sons
Wilder Mind
peak: 1 (x3) weeks: 15 (9 in top ten)
2014: Sing - Ed Sheeran
I never listened to much M&S, but this one slayed me. I guess the omission of banjos made the song more accessible. The best part is of course when the song picks up the pace in the middle, which has been built up beautifully by a chorus of synths and guitars. | | | | 1 9
dead inside - muse
Drones
peak: 2 weeks: 16 (9 in top ten)
2014: Coming of Age - Foster the People
While Believe was topping my YTT countdown, this was the song that kept getting blocked by it. And the reason I love this song is the same as Believe: that mid track change in pace. I kinda love these two songs to almost the same extent, but I decided to put this just above Believe as this one kinda has a tiny bit more longevity for me. | | | | 1 8
i know there's gonna be (good times) [feat. young thug & popcaan] - jamie xx
In Colour
peak: 5 weeks: 12 (7 in top ten)
2014: Habits (Stay High) - Tove Lo
This is such a gem in the album. Marrying some pop sensibilities with Jamie's evocative production, paired with some explicit rapping and a sample, you get this insanely catchy, dancy, euphoric hip-hop/dance/pop song that will surely put you in a good mood and ready to hop. | | | | 1 7
search party - sam bruno
Paper Towns: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
peak: 1 (x3) weeks: 11 (7 in top ten)
2014: Keep It to Yourself - Kacey Musgraves
If you've not watched Paper Towns, you probably don't know this. This girl doesn't even have a Wikipedia page. Yeah but this song is so breezy. Like idk I wanna dance slowly in a hipster cafe to this song. | | | | 1 6
lean on (feat. mø & dj snake) - major lazer
Peace Is the Mission
peak: 11 weeks: 14
2014: Afraid - The Neighbourhood
Was actually surprised to see this song blow up. I thought the GP wouldn't use MØ ever again, but this proves to be her Summertime Sadness. She does a great job injecting her energy here and the hook is effortless. It's one of the few EDM songs that you can never get sick of. | | | | 1 5
sorry - justin bieber
Purpose
peak: 2 weeks: 4 (so far)
2014: Beggin For Thread - BANKS
Another EDM song, and Bieber's best song ever. Forget that this sounds like a half-hearted "apology". Following the tropical house trend of 2015, this is another great breezy track. And that drop is sickkkkk. | | | | 1 4
one more (feat. mø) - elliphant
One More
peak: 2 weeks: 23 (13 in top ten)
2014: Shake It Off - Taylor Swift
Well well MØ finds herself in the top 20 for a second time! And tbh she was the only reason why I gave this song a listen. If this song doesn't make you go down like a dirty hooker, you're listening to this wrong. And if the mid-song breakdown doesn't make you go down like a drunk coke sniffer hooker, you're listening to this wrong. | | | | 1 3
i can change - brandon flowers
The Desired Effect
peak: 5 weeks: 14 (6 in top ten)
2014: Timber (feat. Kesha) - Pitbull
Yas I love submissive Brandon! In here, he sings about how he's willing to change what he is for his lover over some hard dancy beats than sound like it belongs in a gay club. That bit right before the second chorus hits me so hard. How about you change and be with a man for once? | | | | 1 2
wildest dreams - taylor swift
1989
peak: 1 (x2) weeks: 14 (so far)
2014: Yellow Flicker Beat - Lorde
I was pretty surprised to see that this was one of the most downloaded songs when 1989 just dropped. Cuz that meant that it would probably be a single. And I never thought this would be one cuz it's a ballad. But thank god it happened and it became the 4th most successful single off 1989! | | | | 1 1
good for you (feat. a$ap rocky) - selena gomez
Revival
peak: 1 (x1) weeks: 15 (7 in top ten)
2014: Drunk In Love (feat. Jay-Z) - Beyoncé
When this came out I was immediately SLAYED. Selena being all mature and sexy slays. Her breathy whispery voice when she's doing it on purpose and not because she lacks vocal ability slays. God this song is just so so steamy. | |
