Some of you must think that Mariah needs a club banger, actually, those type of songs may be the reasons why Mariah gradually declines, and because...
Originally posted by mariah_4life She moved on to doing music that she really can't do ... which is more urban type music like Obsessed and Migrate. She should've stuck to her classic stuff or Emancipation of Mimi music ... but she chose to do something else.
that's why, ....
Aw, boo, you keepin' my posts ...
I will say it like this and if you all don't understand it by this ... then well, you never will.
This is stuff that Mariah can do:
Mariah is an artist who does ballads or mid-tempos. She is not an artist that can do more urban songs and then perform them and sound great. Mariah is no Missy Elliott or Eve. It's plain and clear to see that and for anyone to think otherwise, is not in the right state of mind. Mariah is an artist who has proved time and time again that she can perform amazingly well with ballads, but her performances after TEOM era have fallen in terms of quality of her voice because she is trying too much to try and fit in with what is the "in" style of music rather than doing what she can sing best, ballads.
Mariah can attempt to do:
As you see in that performance, she takes a mid-tempo song and tries to do ballad work with it, but she isn't quite vocally strong because, yet again, she IS NOT a rapper or someone who can pull off an urban sound.
Here's a simple terminology for those who still don't get it: Mariah Carey can't sing urban songs like Kanye West can't sing vocally. Mariah Carey can sing ballads like Kanye West can rap:
are we comparing Mariah's vocals to Kanye West? really??
If you seriously didn't get what I was saying then you should just keep your mouth shut.
I was trying to clarify the reason as to why Mariah isn't performing at her best ... and I was backing up my reasoning with a comparison to Mariah with urban music and ballads and Kanye West singing and rapping.
somebody please tell me why we are comparing Mariah's vocals to Kanye West's? like..really?
And editing your post still ain't gonna help the cause.
I wasn't comparing their vocals. Have you not heard of those terminologies before? I'm saying that Mariah can sing ballads, but she can't sing urban songs. Kanye west can rap, but he can't sing. I used Kanye as an example to help strengthen the fact that what I was saying is true. It helps to show that Mariah can do one thing, but she can't do another. Hell, I could've used Britney Spears or even Christina Aguilera in stead of Kanye West. There was no comparing done between any artists.
Does any body notice that Mariah tried to do WBT and Don't Forget About Us pt. 2 on E=MC2?
Once you find something that works ... why not try and recycle it right? WRONG! Mariah knows that she can do anything that she wants to, but I want another song that is like We Belong Together in terms of power and appeal ... I'm not looking for a sound-a-like.

lmao but there was no real reason for putting his videos in your post. That was sort of weird.

It was to help strengthen the argument and to also to do an apples to oranges kind of thing. I put the videos in there to also help people understand the terminology, in case they didn't understand what I was saying.
Mariah should learn from Toni Braxton, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston on how to keep your traditional sound yet be contemporary. She ruins her own legacy with songs like Obsessed.

Ive have always say that Mariah is the tyoe of singer that can sing whatever and it will sound good. Some people talk about her urban sound like if this is her first year doing it, we all love mariahs 90s ballads WHO DOESNT??? but at the same time, the fact that she changed her music style its what still has her having hits and being relevant. Mariah its been doing this since 1995 with the song Fantasy. Heartbreaker,Sweetheart,Honey,Breakdown among others were wayyyyyyy before that Kanye,Rihanna,Beyonce... i dont know how can anyone say that this its music she CANT do... please!!!! shes one of the artists who made popular the Hip-Pop collaborations...
Other thing its that im 100% sure mariah can make a Brilliant adult R&B contemporary album , with her lyrics and with some of the examples we have in the past in some of her songs, i know she can do it. The issue here its that the media its sometimes really hard on her.. and i think she feels the preasure to stay relevant becasue everybody will count her over if she goes to a more artistic mature direction and doenst have #1 hits. People love to count her out why?? i just dont know.. one thing for sure its that she has one of the most brilliant careers ever.. and thats a fact... i will never count out someone liker her...
Then there is the voice issue and in my opinion the most important. I been saying this for a whilde, obviously we all know theres something happening there, we heard she has nodules and she was scare to remove them , but theres something needs to be done with her voice. I really believe that the voice issue its really having a effect in her conficende on stage. She has never and will never be the beyonce type of perfomer but after the Mimi era she has become less and lees confident on stage and i think its just because of her having problems with her voice.
