Judging by her tweets and stuff she's said in interviews, she seems to not really respect the whole mainstream pop genre. While it is her decision and I don't have an issue with her choosing not to support Katy on tour, she definitely comes off as pretentious and a little annoying. Yes, Katy might not be as artsy fartsy as her, but she and other artists still deserve Lorde's respect because they have been around for years. Lorde is still new to all this, and people could forget about her tomorrow.

She may have said a lot more in the actual interview. Maybe she explained why. The video in the OP was obviously trying to start a feud between the bases to have attention. It's a MEDIA thing and you guys all fell for it

She wants her music to speak for herself and let it rise on its own. That's extremely admirable, but of course, ATRL doesn't appreciate musical integrity.
