Not sure what that has to do with anything. An artist like Christina doesn't necessarily have to be selling millions of albums or winning The Voice to influence other artists or the public. Christina's Star Power is pretty high, which is something separate. She even raised Sia's profile, despite You Lost Me not taking off on radio and in sales. (although the video has a significant amount of views) Sia was in bankruptcy when Christina first approached her. It's unlikely Sia would have broken through into massive mainstream success and would be writing for high profile artists without Christina being the catalyst.

I wouldn't say Gaga is copying Christina's Bionic cover; the artwork on Bionic is actually a depiction of steampunk, as in steam-powered horns, turn tables, speakers with a maze of gauges etc. whereas Gaga's promotional imagery is exposed circuitry.

Still there's something derivative about Gaga's overall presentation, however. It really comes off as her take on a Bionic type of album.

No, a robot is a bunch of parts connected to one central computer component that controls everything. Robots are not made of computer parts, they are made of metal, plastic, wiring, and various other materials.

For anyone comparing it Bionic, I have a question...

When someone copies something, isn't it usually because that thing was successful and they want a piece of that success? I see threads made here once or twice a month accusing some artist of ripping off Bionic. Why would someone want to emulate one of the most disastrous pop eras of this decade? Wouldn't logic say that the very opposite would happen? This is not even shade, no one will deny that Bionic's success was very underwhelming, so I'm just asking why people would want to copy it?

Besides, Christina hardly was the first or last person to use a futuristic/technological theme. Look how long Daft Punk has been around.

Not necessarily. I really get the impression that Gaga is the kind of artist that enjoys trying to top some of the people she is influenced by, you know sort of an ego type of deal where she wants to prove she can make a Bionic type of album a commercial success. In all seriousness, despite Bionic's underwhelming sales, it actually is somewhat of an iconic album. It was one of the years most illegally downloaded. And Madonna ended up working with M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj and throwing in some Bionic references. Plus the album being a catalyst for Sia's mainstream popularity.

Nope, let me refresh your memory and remind you that Gaga copied Grace Jones and others alternatives acts in 2008/2010, and they weren't popular or successfull at the time.
