There's no proof to me that the dountdown is actually based on fan votes. Still mind boggling Linkin Park (a band with arguably more fans than anyone) never makes the countdown. I still think record labels pay for the video to be on TRL and voting doesn't exist.
Also, almost every song on the countdown is bubble gum pop and it's been like this for years. Name some non-bubble gum songs on recent countdowns...there aren't too many.
