ATRL's original tournament Choose the album, then a song is back for its third season.
Before we start I want to make sure you are aware of the rules: These are applied to judges, voters and contestants
1. The contestants can only send the same song THREE TIMES, after that the song gets blocked from your choices;
2. The contestants have to wait THREE ROUNDS until they can use the same song again;
3. Judges need to be UNBIASED. Contestants are allowed to complain if some biased behaviour happens;
4. Anyone can vote except the judges that will vote in a different way;
5. A vote per person.
The submissions for round two are in, so what are we waiting for?
You had three days to send in your songs but you behaved too well and all of you delivered the entries before the deadline! Well done!
We are down to 23 contestants. Time to know what everyone sent as their entries for this second round.
Just to let you know: some of you DID need to write a little text to justify your choices, it's obvious that an album doesn't need to have all types of lyrics, in some cases the contestants felt like it would be better to explain why that song was chosen, some just knew that their songs was perfectly made for this round that's why some have a little text and some don't eventhough it wasn't required (the ones that don't have it won't have less points for that).
First of all I had to send "LOBA" cause i don't have another valid option. And if you pay attention it's a perfect song to this challenge and i'll explain you why.
The song itself talks about women empowerment, about them saying "that's enough!".
Just focus on these parts of the lyrics:
"Una loba en el armario, tiene ganas de salir" (There's a She Wolf in the closet, that feel like going out), "No pienso quedarme a tu lado mirando la tele y oyendo disculpas La vida me ha dado un hambre voraz y tú apenas me das caramelos Me voy con mis piernas y mi juventud por ahí aunque te maten los celos" (Don't think about staying in your side watching TV and hearing excuses, Life has given me a ravenously hungry and you just give me candy, I'm going with my legs and my youth although jealousy kills you).
She's not comfortable anymore with her boring relationship and she's completely breaking up with him. And as if it weren't enough, she's looking for another one or more than one : "Llevo conmigo un radar especial para localizar solteros" (I carry with me a special radar to locate single men).
2. AdamAL4 - Ke$ha - Warrior: Thinking Of You
3. MunyKen - Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded - The Re-Up: Fire Burns
Quote:
Fire Burns best fits this description because in the song Nicki first explains the break-up and then she goes into how all the stuff you he did to her, it would soon come back on him and she wont be there to help him. So basically she doesn't really care and she's moving on but he will regret everything he'd done to her.
I would just like to say that there aren't any songs that really fit this round, as most song about a breakup usually show the Girls weaker side. I chose Wild Horses because, although the lyrics can be interpreted in more than one way and the intro is a bit weird, they can also be about the end of a relationship, in which the girl is through with her man.
I choose Brave New Girl. The song doesn't exactly say that it's a break up that's making her a Brave New Girl, but the song shows that you can change for the better after any kind of "relationship" is over and not fuss over the last "relationship"
17. I'mRihannaFan - Bruno Mars - Unorthodox Jukebox: Natalie
Quote:
I chose Natalie cause Bruno doesn't show his weak side here. He wants kinda revenge.
18. JakeKills - Florence + The Machine - Ceremonials: Shake It Out
Quote:
In this song, Florence is "shaking off" the regrets of a past relationship. Lyrics such as "And I am done with my graceless heart/ So tonight I'm gonna cut it out and then restart" also indicate that she is trying to move on and start over.
The task states "Send a song where a relationship might be over but the artist is not showing his or her weak side" and being that I think Unapologetic seems to lack what one would expect to be the track's usual state of affairs of this predicament ("heartbroken, but gonna dance the pain away") I went with something more unorthodox, yet still fitting for the task.
I chose 'Jump' because the lyrics touch upon a relationship between her and another (or others) where there's obvious issues, but instead of bashing them or letting go, she challenges them to step their game up because they've got something good in their hands and they must realize it before it's too late.
Now that you know all the entries and what every contestant have to say, it's time to decide! Who was better, who was worse? Who deserves to be in and who doesn't! For that we will be needing our very own judges!
Give it up for them, they will surely have a lot of work in their hands!
