But Lem, you got to realize this was going up against The Voices 3rd season and Americas Got Talent season finale. X Factor is still starting up trying to pick up the pieces from the first season, whereas people know how The Voice and AGT is. Television works so much more different than the music industry. The fact that Fox won in the ratings in the end should be applauded!
Basically. We'll see how it does
in the long term, I'm sure we'll have some meltdowns, and they won't be from Britney stans.
Army, we can't be selective with our reactions. We all know that if X-Factor had massive ratings - it would be because of Britney. Well, since the show under-performed opening night we can't just pass everything off on other people now. Britney was paid $18 million to draw in viewers and she didn't do it.
We'll see if that changes tonight, especially since we're leading-in the Glee premiere - but the competition will be just as strong (AGT Finale, first Thursday night football game of 2012).
Yes, it's a long season and things may change...but this is certainly not how any of us wanted this to start. We pretty much all agreed that anything under 12 million was going to be disappointing...8 million is just depressing.
