The VMAs are just not as exciting as they used to be. There are no big stars (Mj is gone, Madonna is not relevant, Britney didn't show up, Justin Timberlake doesn't have new material, big rock bands are pretty much retired)...The best shows were around the new millenium. They were really unpredictable and fun and had great performances. This years show was just boring.

LMFAO!
Last year, because of the Queen B flawless and beautiful performance and her baby, VMA had the highest number of viers IN HISTORY. The queen and her baby stole the show.
No Beyonce= No show
" Who run this mutha?" Beyonce: me and my baby * rubs the belly*

Girl, YOU go do the research, I am not ur local library.
You said it made no impact. A 221% increase on iTunes & a raise in alber sales after the VMAs says you're wrong.
You gonna refute the facts hunny bunny?

I said significant. When you have low sales for a song and it raised after a mayor performance for a short time to number 20 and goes after that in the abyss, I wouldn't call that significant.(the same e.g. Madonna Super Bowl)

Something tells me Britney, Beyoncé and Gaga are getting some MONEY HONEY to show up next year.
And then some people say there is no "trinity" anymore.

221% increase on iTunes into the top 5 & a rise in your album sales aren't significant? Is the VMA effect supposed to last multiple weeks for a non-single (at the time) with no airplay and no further promotion? Stop.

Girl, & EYE said go research it urself. I do not know.
Stop derailing the thread anyway, this thread isn't about Love On Top's charting position.
This is about this year's VMAs being a flop, seaux

I actually enjoyed a break from Gaga, Britney and Bey even though I love all 3. It was a breath of fresh air. And now everyone knows what the awards are like without them, and like they always say you never know what you have until it's gone.

This was well expected. Yet the VMAs get worse and worse every year.

Yes and my point is the good raitings for 2011 wasn't for Joe Calderone, Britney or Beyonce. Their magnet in 2011 was as high as now for Rihanna, 1D, Katy or Swifty. There was another factor.

Delusion. Those two groups don't nearly have the same pull.

album & single sales =/= star power. You bringing up Love On Top's charting position doesn't stop Beyoncé from being popular & being the most tweeted about of the night, breaking records.
Of course there were other factors (such as the DNC & the move to Thursday), I actually agree with you there.
But if you don't think that people tune into certain award shows to see certain celebs in comparison to other celebs then you're wrong. The star power of the celebs do affect the ratings (along with the other factors), whether or not it helps sell their songs or albums is another nearly unrelated factor in this matter.

I'm only saying that this is a myth born in ATRL that Beyonce for the VMA's 2011 and the dead of Whitney has brought the good ratings of Grammy's in 2012 The good ratings are from the biggest star hence why the best ratings of Grammy's in 1984 the winner Michael was. Conclusion: The winner takes it all.
