And Turkey has accepted far more Syrian refugees than Germany. It's not like they all go to Western Europe.
What city is under constant threat?
Certainly none in Germany. Berlin is an extremely safe city.

No, they aren't. Statistics show only around 20% at most are from Syria.
I live in London. The terror threat level is at severe. An attack is expected.
If Turkey are happy to accept them, fine. But I think it should be up to the population of a country and not do-gooding politicians whether they should accept large amounts of 'refugees'.
Besides, if ISIS explicitly stated that they will send fighters disguised as refugees, why would any politician put their citizens at risk? Government is there to look after its people first and foremost.

What's problematic is that Western Europe still doesn't take the Islamic terror threat seriously despite the ever-increasing carnage against its civilians. War has been declared on Europe, they should start acting like it.

And with 20% they are the #1 immigration country to Germany. But yeah there are also wars in other places.
London is not under constant threat. You are still far more likely to die in a car accident or something. But of course a terror attack can happen. Hope it doesn't.
I would like my Government to look out for the world, but yeah I'm probably in the minority there. I don't think Germans are more important than other nationalities.

Of course it is taken seriously, but closing borders or jailing people on lose suspicions are stupid and wrong responses.

He snuck into Europe with forged documents and had established ties with pro-ISIS radicals that wanted to launch attacks inside Germany. If that's not enough probable cause to detain and monitor someone, then Germany really is doomed.

You're a fool if you think London isn't under constant threat from terrorism. London and New York are the two most important cities in the world. They are the main targets for terrorism.
I am happy for my government to look out for people, but the money gathered from taxpayers should only be spent for the benefit of those taxpayers to ensure their safety. As I said, the most important job of government is keeping its people safe. Everything else comes second to that, especially if enemies of our country plan to exploit our kindness to organise an attack.

What ties exactly? I don't know details. Police does and they thought it wasn't enough. I choose to trust them there, but of course in hindsight it's looks like a terrible decision.

There is absolutely no doubt that Merkel will win.

The threat for any particular resident of London or New York to die in a terror attack is extremely slim.

Terror attacks are expected. 8 potential attacks have been foiled in London in 12 months. Until you live with that level of threat in your city, I guess it's hard to understand. Especially if, like me, you travel through central London at rush hour everyday.

Turns out he was in prison in Italy for 4 years for setting fire to a school, was known to be an ISIS supporter and was known to have had weapons training. The German authorities have A LOT to answer for. Disgraceful.

Yeah terror attacks are about evoking fear in the population. I know that.

So I would rather not add to that fear by allowing hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of undocumented 'refugees' into the country without proper background checks.
That was Germany's mistake. Thankfully, my country is a LOT more intelligent than that.

Yeah AFD (German Trump) will sadely get a lot of votes ![:(](http://www.atrl.net/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/frown.gif)
But they would need 50% to do anything since nobody wants to work with them and that obviously won't happen.
But yeah I'm a bit scared where we will go from here....

i know people that dont support the AFD but they will still vote for them just to show that they are not happy with the politics overall. so i agree with you that the next election results for germany will be scary

I'm glad we have first-past-the-post in the UK. Makes it much easier to get rid of a government we dislike. Germans will be stuck with Merkel for years to come ![toofunny2](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/faces/toofunny2_zpsb54f2d2d.gif)

I don't understand where all this sense of responsibility of having to take these people in is coming from? I don't remember this "humanitarianism" [sic] when it came to Darfur or Rwanda. Why do the sons of Allah always get a free pass?
Almost makes those conspiracy theories seem less crazy. Wasn't it the ex-premier or whatever of Algeria in the 60s or 70s that said to the UN, "soon, we'll erupt into the Northern Hemisphere and we will not come as friends. The wombs of our women will bring us victory" something along those lines.
