070. Ke$ha “Take It Off”
069. Trey Songz feat. Nicki Minaj “Bottoms Up”
068. Justin Bieber feat. Ludacris “Baby”
067. Nicki Minaj “Right Thru Me”
066. Bruno Mars “Just The Way You Are”
(70-66) Animal was my number one album of the year, so it's natural Ke$ha's singles are gonna be inhabiting my chart, which means there's more to come.
'Take It Off' was never one of my choices to be a single, but I can't deny the song itself is catchy as hell, and the lyrics are so her, who else would sing about having the time of their lives at a drag show? Talking about catchy, Trey Songz released his most pop friendly song yet,
'Bottoms Up' and adding Minaj to the mix was just a big plus. Her verse is insane and it abruptly ends with one of Nicki's most memorable lines,
"Rest in peace to Anna Nicole Smith, yes, my dear, you're so explosive, say hi to Mary, Mary and Joseph, now bottoms up and double my dosage" There's more Nicki here with one of my current favorite songs,
'Right Thru Me', which has the singer pouring her soul out as she battles to remain sane in the middle of a tormented relationship. Of course, Justin Bieber, the human being is a pest, but he has managed to release a few good songs,
'Baby' is one of them, I don't know how many times I tried to take that irresistible hook out of my head, and Ludacris surprisingly fits in well with the meaning of the track, without crossing the cheesy line. Bruno Mars is the current king of love songs, and
'Just The Way You Are' is the perfect song to dedicate to a girlfriend. His charm and charisma reflect in his voice and it gives life to the lyrics, otherwise this would be a very plain and boring song.
065. Michael Buble “Haven’t Met You Yet”
064. Paramore “The Only Exception”
063. Orianthi “According To You”
062. B.O.B. feat. Bruno Mars “Nothin’ On You”
061. Colbie Caillat “I Never Told You”
(65-61) B.O.B. and Bruno Mars were both unknown artists at the time of this release, but
'Nothin' On You' didn't have a flaw, and it was destined to top the charts. This duet was do dynamic, Bruno lay down a memorable hook, while B.O.B. delivered clever rhymes in the verses, just a fantastic track. Another new artist, Orianthi, had the goal to prove herself after being extremely lucky to be chosen to share the stage with MJ.
'According To You' debuted at the beginning of the year, and although it took a considerable time to grow on me, once it did I was in love with the song. Colbie Caillat is one of those artists that deserve attention but don't get much of it,
'I Never Told You' is sad, dramatic, and gives you a feeling of regret every time you listen to it, not too mention her charming voice sounds perfect and it fits the mood of the track. Paramore also released a sad, slow track this year, about the fear of being in love, not very common for the band. Although, Paramore is falling apart at the moment and their future doesn't seem very bright, they once again released one of the best pop/rock songs of the year, without a doubt. Finally,
'Haven't Met You Yet' found its way to my iPod in 2010, much later after its official release. Michael Buble has something about him that many other male singers lack and it's reflected in this song, it's hard to define, but all I can say is that I like it.
