It's her most cohesive, personal and addictive album. Good Girl Gone Bad was just a collection of singles; it was a mess, basically. Her other albums just seemed to have a few good songs and were mostly filler. This, however, is something that could make her. No other album for a long time has had such a clear concept and has executed it so well.

I honestly usually don't care for "Rihanna music", but it's something that's drawing me in, per se. "Te Amo" is beyond genius, and very innovative (something I thought Rihanna had lost since her previous album).

You can actually hear throughout the majority of the songs that she's charismatically slipping to her island roots.

Truthfully, this album is already proving to be far better than Good Girl Gone Bad, which to me was a disaster in its own right.

Yeah, she sounds pretty good in most of the songs. The vocals on "Rude Boy" are mostly Ester Dean's though aren't they?

Listening to Disturbia today made me realize how much I miss the Rihanna from that time. I was so excited when I heard last year that the new album was going in the direction of Disturbia, but that obviously didn't happen. Anyway, I do like many tracks on Rated R, but to me, Disturbia is one of those songs that just can't be topped. Definitely one of my favorite songs ever.

Okay...a lot of the verses just don't sound like Rihanna to me that's all. I thought it was like a "Play"/"Ain't It Funny (remix)" situation.

Must be the 3rd single!!!
It exhibits a vulnerable side of Rihanna and the attitude is prevalent despite the fact that she did not spend herself throating angry sounds and curses. Just beautiful.

Its all fine and dandy and all until the disgusting chorus comes playing, heck its plain indigestible. It could've been better, a complete revision of the structure [chorus] is a promising start. The rest though are fine.

Generally, Im stunned by how the album delineates a quantum leap of change but still delivers a greats sensation. Rihanna's corporation of Rock and RnB proves a good harmony (Lil Wayne take note!) and a cohesive union. By Riri's standards, this is hardcore. Would I say this is better than Good Girl Gone Bad? YES. Rated R possesses a innate characteristic that's lacking the previous album and it's the consistency. Shocking as it is from a fan who usually shuns alleyways RnB and amateur Rock, IT IS SURPRISINGLY VERY GOOD.

Mad House: Great intro to the album. Sets the tone
Wait Your Turn (8/10): While i dont think there is any thing specail about the sound to this song, i LOVE her accent in this song. It really draws me to this song.

Hard (9/10) It's takin me some time to com around to this song, but i really am startin to love this song. i love the verses, she sounds great. Her attitude on this song is FIRE. im not really liking the chorus, but other than that, a great song.

Stupid In Love (7.5/10): Ive never really loved rihanna's voice, but she really does have a good voice. It sounds great on this song. The song is just alright though

Rockstar 101 (6/10): im not a fan of "rock" rihanna yet. Its a good song, but it just sounds awkward to me.

Russian Roulette (9.5/10) I wasnt feelin this at first, but now im lovin it. I love her voice on this sound. the lyrics are great, and it just all works well together. I love her swag on this song

Fire Bomb (7/10) The Intro reminds me of Shut Up & Drive. Its an alright song, but i tend to skip this song

Rude Boy (8/10): This sounds like the most "Mainstream" song on the album. Clubs would love this. I like the energy of the song.

Photograph (7/10): It's an ok song. Kinda seems out of place.

G4L (7/10): I like the sound, but thats about it.

Te Amo (7.5/10) i do like the song, and the "Sound" of the song, but its another song that doesnt really seem to "fit" the album

Cold Case Love (9/10) i really love this song. She sounds great and the lyrics are great. just a beautiful song

The Last Song (6/10) i dont really like this song. its sounds to messy a parts for me

Overall a solid album, with some mis steps, but hopefully with the right single choices, it will do well
