04. Kelly Clarkson - Never Again
Released: April 23, 2007.
From the Album : My December
- Just when you thought "Since U Been Gone" made Kelly angry, you ain't seen nothing yet. "Never Again", the first single off her personal/controversial album "My December" is definitely showing an aggressive side of her, but also a powerful vocal performance. Kelly shows her listeners that this track is about strength and power of independence. As she sings at the beginning of the song, "I hope the ring you gave to her turns her finger green. I hope when you're in bed with her... you think of me.", Kelly managed to convey a serious warning without sounding on the edge of breakdown. I am proud to say that "Never Again" is my favorite pop song of 2007. She proved to me that she is no longer just an American Idol winner, but truly a talented pop/rock vocalist of our time.
Cover Time: Some dude - Never Again
I couldn't find a famous artist who covered this song, so I got this dude. In my opinion, he did a pretty good job covering it.
03. Kanye West - Stronger
Released: July 31, 2007.
From the Album : Graduation
- Harder. Better. Faster. Stronger. Kanye West has done it again. For three years straight, he has produced a trilogy of epic albums that changed the world of hip-hop. "Stronger" is an amazing track that shows Kanye pushing an envelope and thinks outside of the box. Many rappers tend to stay to their route or just plainly not using their heads while making records; however, Kanye came out with a different approach. He used a Daft Punk sample for clearly his biggest hit yet, "Stronger". The track is full of energy and I am ecstatic every time I've heard it. It is so amazing how someone with so much ego is right for the first time. The guy has all the right to brag about his talent because his music is clearly a masterpiece.
YUCK STRONGER What are you talking about? he did not think outside the box, he just stole someone else's song that wasn't even too good to begin with, and he put his voice in it. He could've reinvented the song or do something creative with it but he just left it intact. And to be honest the lyrics are just like any of his other 70 songs. I love Kanye and all, but this **** is beyond horrendous
+ Best Tracks: Flashing Lights (Feat. Dwele), Stronger, Good Life (Feat. T-Pain), I Wonder, Can't Tell Me Nothing, Homecoming (Feat. Chris Martin) +
- Ha. You totally thought I was gonna put Kanye West at number one? I'm not THAT predictable. "Graduation" completed the trilogy saga of Kanye West, and what a way to end it. The album is amazing, and hands down the best hip-hop album of 2007. The productions on this album are well-put together especially on tracks such as, "Good Life", "Homecoming", or the legendary "Flashing Lights", which is set to be the next single this year. Overall, "Graduation" is the most accomplished thing Kanye West has ever done. He also continues to push at mainstream hip-hop’s sonic contours, sampling a number of unlikely sources that only start with the Daft Punk bite for “Stronger", Micheal Jackson's "P.Y.T." for "Good Life", or Can’s “Sing Swan Song” for a song called “Drunk and Hot Girls". Kanye also managed to cut off the skits that he fear might ruin the pleasure of listening to the album, and it worked! I find myself liking "Graduation" more than his previous albums because of that reason. Anyway, the main reason I did not put this album at number one is because I find myself skipping some of the tracks from time to time. However, I have to say that Kanye West never disappoint me since "Graduation" is an amazing album, and it outsell Curtis. Ha!

02. Digitalism - Pogo
Released: July 5, 2007.
From the Album : Idealism
- Well, there's a shock. Yes! The German duo "Digitalism" are awesome, and I love their track "Pogo". Digitalism are inspired by Daft Punk to make cool electronic music, but with a little twist to it. "Pogo" has its memorable riffs and the sound of rock oriented, which can be compare to bands like Killers or Klaxons. I can't help but singing the chorus "Yeah, woohoo. There's something in the air!", the track is such a delicious ear candy to me. I can honestly say they are the next best thing since Daft Punk and Justice. As I've mentioned, "Pogo" is a fun song with its catchy and highly melodic chorus. Therefore, if bands like Franz Ferdinand are doing rock music that make people dance, Digitalism are making dance music that make people rock!
The number one album and single are coming tomorrow?!?! Oh, yes baby.
