BATTLE FOR #1: KE$HA, MACKLEMORE, AVICII & AVRIL
'Crazy Kid' K$ reigns supreme for another week, nearly beaten by Mackle's love anthem. it's now a duel between the two for next week's top spot, however they might be facing some new challengers with Avicii's 'Wake Me Up', which has been receiving significant gains and updates in playlist and scrobble points, and Avril Lavigne's new single 'Rock 'N Roll,' coming second for greatest gains of the week. Which one will come out on top?
Avicii blasts into the top five with the highest gains in weeks, so it's being rewarded with a Platinum Player as shown with light blue and italicized posting. 'Blurred Lines' rises a few spaces, Icona Pop following at #8 just after 'Radioactive.' Meanwhile, Anna Kendrick's first musical attempt with 'Cups' clocks a top ten entry at #9 with sufficient scrobbling points to do so.
We have a slew of new entires this week following a recent iTunes shopping spree
as well as some new releases i've been hording on YouTube and last.fm. Panic! At The Disco's comeback since 'The Ballad of Mona Lisa' (#8) has a hot shot debut at #11 - 'Miss Jackson', which features Lolo. While Avril Lavigne's latest single 'Rock 'N Roll' isn't officially out yet, i still count plays through music listening outlets such as Internet radios and YouTube (purely because through most of those I'm selecting to listen to the songs therefore my choice is taken into account), and Avril is ruling it. I've used this method many times in the past to help determine a more well-rounded score for plays and scrobbles, however it's the first time I'm introducing a debut on the countdown solely on these spins, and if you ask me that's a pretty high placement, at #17.
At #18 we see Lana returning with 'Summertime Sadness's remix with Cedric Gervais, followed by Capital Cities' 'Safe & Sound' at #19. Let's see what'll show up next week!
