JEIBERT's Best of 2012 | aLBUm 57 sINGLEs 110-108 aRTISt 30
*Lay-out suits best in LiveWire color scheme
FRANK OCEAN - "Channel Orange"
| Released: July 10, 2012
Genre: R&B, neo soul
Label: Def Jam
Producer: Frank Ocean, Malay, Om'mas Keith, Pharrell
TOP 5 TRACKS:
01. Sweet Life
02. Thinkin' Bout You
03. Crack Rock
04. Monks
05. Forrest Gump
I considered this song as one of the most critical acclaimed by the many here. But for me, this album is just okay. Definitely not the type of album that I regularly listen upon to. And it makes it overrated considering the praises here being thrown! But upon he getting the Grammys, I wouldnt be surprised as well. My favorite songs here knocks, the rest is somewhat too long to listen to. But anyways, I respect Frank and his work, definitely looking more forward to him!

CONOR MAYNARD - "Vegas Girl"
| "...This is for the girl that can get down low, The whole club wanna see you go, Ey, shake, shake like you're famous, girl, Head back, lay it down like a Vegas girl, Bass coming down so hard, That little dress breaking every heart, Ey, shake, shake like you're famous, girl, Head back, lay it down like a Vegas girl..."

What kinda BOP?! His swag, his voice, the lyrics! This song is so cool and sexual at the same time! I really love the Alicia, Queen Bee, and Rihrih references! Very Justin Timberlake as well! Perfect on the lane or genre Conor is definitely taking! Well I dont find him very attractive, but damn! his songs are very well suited for him! I hope he takes off worldwide, not only in the UK! I see you Vegas Girls!...
Last Year's #110: Kanye West - "All of the Lights" (feat. Rihanna) |
AMELIA LILY - "You Bring Me Joy"
| "...Oh you bring me joy, yeah you bring me sadness, So you bring the love, so forget all the madness, I’m done with all the pain, I’m done with all the happenings, So you bring me joy, yeah you bring me sadness..."
Album:
Release Date: September 7, 2012
Genre: Dance-pop, synthpop
Length: 3:51
Label: Sony Music
Writer(s): Annie Yuill, Brian Higgins, Carla Marie Williams, Fred Falke, Luke Fitton, Matt Gray, Miranda Cooper, Owen Parker, Toby Scott
Producer(s): Xenomania
Weeks on Chart: 5 weeks
Peak Position: #03
First listen, I thought it was basic. Pressed some couple of replays, what kinda hypnotizing track? Crafted by the pop perfectionists Xenomania, this was a great introduction from my favorite female contestant on the Xfactor on the previous season! It still has basicness though, but I love the song now! The only complain from me, it doesnt show how powerful her vocals are on this song except on the latter and minimal parts only.
Last Year's #109: Katy Perry - "The One That Got Away" |
COVER DRIVE - "Sparks"
| "...Now happy to see you setting me off like sparks, You ignite all the colours inside my heart, On the doorstep like we've never been apart, Hope you know that I'm happy to see you..."
Album: Bajan Style
Release Date: April 29, 2012
Genre: R&B, pop, hip hop, electropop, dub
Length: 2:58
Label: Polydor
Writer(s): Steve Mac, Karen Reifer, Thomas-Ray Armstrong, Jamar Harding & Wayne Hector
Producer(s): Steve Mac
Weeks on Chart: 5 weeks
Peak Position: #02
Flawless song from the Cover Drive! Amanda Rifer, a.k.a. the UK Rihanna (when she goes solo) is giving all sorts of life from her vocals and on the music video! What a jampacked great vibe I'm getting exactly from group! Their best song yet! and hopefully, Jamar (the gorgeous bassist) would be happy to see me setting myself off like sparks listening on this amazing song. RIP!..(at least he accepted my friend request on Facebook and direct messaged me)
Last Year's #108: Katy B - "Witches' Brew" |
RECAP: 125-123 | 122-120 | 119-117 | 116-114 | 113-11
| BRANDY
Birth Name: Brandy Rayana Norwood
Born: February 11, 1979 (age 33)
Origin: Carson, California, United States
Genres: R&B, pop, soul, hip hop
Label: Atlantic, Chameleon, Epic, RCA

Another artist making a comeback this year, is B-rocka! not my username, but Ms. Brandy! Mainly joining the list is due to her album release Two Eleven which signified her birth date (11th of February). Her voice is still strong as ever, and those signature Brandy vocal runs are still evident! Regarded by her peers, as the best vocalist of the R&B genre! And definitely influenced the many of today's generation singers! Personally, this moment, I anticipated her comeback and it turned out worthy, as her current album, slayed my senses! Behold for the "vocal bible" is still here!
