Utada announced on her blog that she's releasing a Greatest Hits album in the fall with 4 or 5 new songs and then she's going on hiatus
I can't believe she's going on hiatus, at this rate we won't get a new studio album til 2022
I read that the hiatus is going to be 2-5 years . I have no more faith J-pop, the other gerls do almost nothing for me. At least she is giving us some material before she leaves.
I think she just wants a break from the music business. She has been working hard since her teenage years and I am sure she is just getting tired of it.
Personally, I don't think she is cut out for the music business with her personality. She is genuinely a nice person and not like most others. She seems too much like a normal person and I can't imagine her being pop-star. It is amazing how well her albums have been selling.
She is releasing a compilation album before she leaves with some new songs. If it sells anything like her first compilation or even her last Japanese album, she will show everyone who is Queen of Japan .
Not with those recent album/single sales <---Broken Smiley
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Ayumi. Step You, Sparkle, and Mirrorcle World are amazing. But she just doesn't compare. Next Level was good enough. Rock 'n' Roll Circus was a mess.

Ok, so now that the little Utada/Ayu thing is over, what does everyone think about Hurricane Venus?
I have never listened to K-Pop before but this was . I can understand why some people would be angry at the heavy usage of auto tune, but I think BoA has proven that she can sing and she does not need it.
