This is the Mariah I loved from the 90's, and early 00's. Focusing on decent, quality music instead of trying to be mainstream, and heading further into obscurity. I'm glad she poured her heart and soul into this album.
I just thought that they really did a great strategy up to this point.
1) release Thirsty - surprise people, appeal to the urban fans
2) perform/release YDKWTD - surprise and appeal to the pop fans
3) put album stream on ITunes - flash fans with how great the album is.
I guess they know that before (primarily) promoting to the GP they need to get the fans on board and I am sure that apart from us hardcore stans she really lost people with Memoirs. Right now, I feel like the fans are SO positive and through social media can spread this to others, that an important step is done.
