Oh, I didn't know that the "THE FIRST 150 POKEMON ARE THE ONLY POKEMON FOR ME" people have a name. Genwunners it is.
They are just blind to the fact that half the Gen I pokémon are incredibly basic and/or just as stupid as Garbodor/Vanilluxe. Those nostalgic rose-tinted glasses are hard to ditch for them, I guess.

Yes! Yellow was my first game too
I liked Pikachu though. I found out very early that if you repeatedly use a potion on Pikachu while it's on full health, it "won't have any effect" but it will raise Pikachu's happiness. I just did that every time. In a minute Pikachu's happiness maxed out
Also it slayed in those games. It was legit a good pokémon in Yellow
