I'm giving up. Got to 29 before it broke again. The crazy thing is, I'm not even taking risks. I reset the radar until I see 4 shaking patches, no less. I always go for the one that is the furthest away. You won't even see me near any corners, in case the Radar won't detect anything the next turn. I'll wait for the next time that bitch start swarming, I'm done for today.
Last night I was chaining for a Dunsparce and this time I decided to do something different and actually go on the sparkly bushes instead of the regular ones, and I actually made it to 40 like this, it took about a while until the shiny appeared. Today I'm going to try for Spoink.

I pretty much always go for the sparkly patches of grass. They're much easier to see and appear more often later on in your chain. I don't know what's been the problem lately, but I can't seem to get a chain of 40. Extremely frustrating!

Yeah, I just found out that they seem more easy to chain with, I would always go for the regular ones as I always thought they were the best for swarm pokemon. Don't worry, you'll get a 40 chain real soon.
btw Typhlosion do you happen to have the password for the plasma ship?
I used the same English patch as you and I think that's what messing it up

i've started a new game on Platinum using Chimchar (hate how it looks but likes it's evolutions)
i'm still undecided with what other pokemons ill use
i already used roserade in the last game i played so it'd be silly to use again
if only cherubis were easier to catch

I take it you're looking for a Grass-type? If you don't mind getting your Pokémon later on in the game: go for Tangrowth. Its base stats are pretty good overall, the only thing that might put you off is its Speed. Get a Tangela with the ability Chlorophyll, evolve it and learn it Sunny Day. That will double its Speed when used. Once you have got Sunny Day, you might as well teach it Solarbeam too. It would be a waste not to. The other two spots can be filled with anything out of Tangrowth's TM/HM movepool depending on what types you want to cover. Plenty of options.

Help me out girls. I am going to start playing Pokémon Platinum as soon as I get back home and I am almost done creating a team. 5 of the 6 spots are already filled and the sixth one will have to be a Water/Fighting-type. Poliwrath seems the perfect choice, but its Special Attack stat is pretty low. To make up for that, I will capture a Poliwag with a Mild nature. Surf and Brick Break are then no-brainers, but what to fill the other spots with? I am leaning towards Ice Beam and Bulk Up, but I am open for suggestions.
