Haha. It's not like it's a deep analysis, Nip. It's a common trope in art, literature, and film. Children = innocence. White = purity. Fassbender's character only has one scene in the entire film with a child near or next to him, so the director is deliberately putting the child into the scene to visually convey an idea, which is innocence in this moment .
As for Patsy, it could be any of the reasons you listed. It's open for interpretation.
