I agree. "4" underperformed, but yet, it allowed her to grow as an artist, find herself, and helped her to later release "Self Titled." There would be no "Self Titled" without "4."
In addition, "Run The World" and "Best Thing I Never Had" were not indicative of the album. Judging by those singles, one may not have thought we would get gems such as "End Of Time," "Love On Top," and "Countdown." She did, however, release "1+1" prior to the album which was promising.
But I digress...
Do I feel like Rihanna can do better? Yes. Do I clown her on ATRL here on there? Yes.
But, I feel like as an artist, she is trying to grow, and as the GP, we have to give her that, especially after 7 years of success and 13 #1 singles.
