I mean it really isn't a big deal that she got turned down, it probably happens all the time Kelly had to pull out of a duet because of scheduling conflicts with Rascal Flatts before.
I agree she's had far better vocals of it on tour though.
I think these were just leftover from the first Smoakstack sessions I wish they were more recent recordings because her voice was kind of rough when she did it.
This is one of my favorite covers from her. I agree that it's sounded better in some live shows I think because she put more emotion into it. I'm sure it's easier to do that when you're feeding off energy from the crowd vs. just singing in a studio.
I like the raspy quality of her voice in this. I think the song kind of calls for it. Also, second part >>>> first part of the mashup.
I love the idea of the Smoakstack sessions but there was something off with her voice that day or something.. I love the dark version of You Love Me, but I was disappointed with the rest (including TIWBG/US)

Her vocals on The Sun Will Rise were flawless and there were a lot of high belts on that, but on Hello and to a lesser extent on The War is Over she sounded similarly tired as on TIWBG/US so I'm wondering if she did it on purpose to bring out her rasp Or maybe TSWR was just done on a different day.
