the video had the best scenery they've had in ages, but thats it...and I'm kinda sad cause they literally dont do ANYTHING, not sighted, no candids, no events nothing. Fans are so bored, and the fanbase is shrinking no one even wants to do anything anymore. Then that thread about the vevo and all these people saying they're done, makes me feel like they are as well. I'll always love them, but I just really want to know WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON. 2 years ago if you told me they would be this lazy and have no extensive promo planned out I would laugh in your face. 2 years ago they would have already started promo. idk but they seriously think they still have the same power...sorry but most fans are BORED and left.

anyways, its almost ****ing november and the closest promo announced so far is the week of the album.........sigh, I'm just tired of them. It's like they don't care and I just don't **** with this. Its frustrating. I know they can be successful they saw what happened with SOML and they still release SMG?? like what the hell

I mean we literally haven't seen or even HEARD OF Zayn in almost a month and I'm not even joking. How do they expect fans to be interested when they arent seen and they barely tweet. My TL is so dead more and more everyday. They're doing this to themselves. Everyone is losing interest, even I don't find myself as into them because of how boring they are these days. They want this "I dont want to be a celebrity" thing so bad...but thats just not how it works. Sigh.

The thing is. They don't care anymore, or at least their team doesn't.
I remember Louis saying that even the fans were bored of the same **** they put out. But what happened? Nothing. Zayn's song with Naughty Boy and pretty much every other collab was supposed to be a bit different from their "normal" sound but it didn't make the album for some unknown reason. Maybe they are just trying to get all the money they can without actually spending any. Which will backfire if they keep this up.
Then they always say they're going for a more mature album to appeal to an older fanbase but the thing is, no one wants to be related to 1D cause their fans, if you ask anyone, are either hormonal teenage girls or gays.
And while trying to go for a more mature sound they are alienating their younger fanbase. That's not even considering how lots of directioners jumped ship when 5SOS became popular.

I think it's a combination of both. They don't get along with their management and so their management get all these promo spots for 5SOS while they get nothing, and after next year they're gonna leave Modest I'm 99% sure. I think they're just done with the **** they have to put up with and their management is being childish cause they're leaving.
I mean I know they would never appeal to an adult audience and they would never have a substantial adult audience, but they could at least make some song more mature and the others for the youngs ones. Like their singles to me should be 100% mature but idk whats going on with them. Looking back on my comment now I kind of overreacted, cause I know once they start doing stuff fans will immediately be back like they always do but its just frustrating to see.
I think they're gonna switch with Irving Azoff as their management after next year, not sure if he's good or not but I do know Modest! is awful and they're playing games with their career rn and just milking them for ***** and giggles like with the OTRA tour. I'm not worried about 5SOS though, most of their fans were never 1D fans and if you were gonna be a 5SOS fan and leave you already did it but most of 1Ds fans are now getting older and just dont have the time or passion to do all this stuff anymore.

yeah its performance on itunes is the only reason I still have hope that this album wont completely flop even thoough SMGs sales are a disaster
do you think its doing the same as MM performance wise on pre orders? I remember at one point MM was in the 90s or so in October.

It is holding up as good as MM. Though with itunes sales down overall, it may be deceiving.

I think what killed their excitement is lack of different music + constant touring + rapid fans. So, I'm not surprised to see them just not do anything at the moment. They're probably tired (except Harry) of everything.

I think next year they will mostly release their last album and then greatest hits.

But I am disappointed they don't do anything different, music or video wise. Like, do we really need another music video of the boys goofing around and being funny? Like, that's so overdone now.

yeah they need to switch it up, I hope SMG is the only song on the album like that like BSE was and that they'll go for more of a fireproof sound cause that was exciting seeing them do something they've never done before and then they go and release steal my girl its like
